What’s a “phosdex”? Unfortunately, I don’t have the answer for you. However, if you read through all of the daily phosdex, you will probably find your answer. After looking through and reading some of the contents of this blog, I decided it will be the first blog that I rate a three. Why you may ask? Because I don’t dislike it, but at the same time, it’s not something that I would visit on my own.
When the blog first loaded (which took longer than most blogs), I was met with an onslaught of advertising. As I looked through the rest of the blog, I realized this was one of the major faults of this blog. No I know it is tempting to throw tons of ads on a blog in an attempt to become an online millionaire, but it’s important to remember the primary function of blogs: content. A blog is a way to provide content to readers, and can be accented with ads (not the other way around).
Once you get past the plethora of ads, you come to realize that this blog has some quality content. For some reason, the larger font actually made it harder for me to read. I know this is probably the opposite of what the author intended, but I guess my eyes have just grow accustomed to size twelve font. Also, some of the formatting choices within the posts were questionable (such as extra big letters with red highlighting).
When the author says that the daily phosdex is “A dyslexically opinionated weblog about nothing in particular, with dyslexic opinions about nearly everything,” he’s not kidding around. From personal stories to rants about Fox News, this blog covers it all. It looks like the author has been on a bit of a summer hiatus (which he addresses), but overall the blog is filled with fairly consistent content.
Since I think it’s a three, my feelings aren’t strong enough to tell you that you need to look at this blog, nor do I dislike it enough to tell you to stay away from it. The best thing you can do is form your opinion about it and then post your thoughts here.
