Lifetime Gamer – Video Games and More – Bloggeries Review

If you are into gaming, then you may like this site, it is called Lifetime Gamer and is meant to include anything and almost everything. From first glance it is pretty difficult to determine what the true intention of this blog is about. The layout is somewhat cluttered, but I will get to that later. Reading through the posts this blog is what is says it is, a blog about gaming. The most recent posts include Ever Wondered What Games our Fellow Russian Arcade Gamers Played?; Mr. Robot Review; The Ultimate Guide to Video Game Degrees and Careers; Gromit of ‘Wallace and Gromit’ Fame is the new ‘Top Dog’ for RCA; Blogger.com riddled with malware, yep you hear it correct; and Commodore looking to dip into video gamers wallets. I like how the site covers gaming in general, and not simply the topic of online gaming which is such a huge industry in itself. The blog opens up with some discussion on arcading and great pics of a Russian model of one of those old arcade systems. The Robot review post is also an interesting one if you are into futuristic technology, and if you aren’t, it works for a great read either way.

I need to be frank about the navigation however, if you are a gamer you will have some problems with this site. The posts are centered down the page and there are two navigation bars on either side, each with an assortment of “stuff” as the author titles. The left navigation bar includes an assortment of link menus – featured games, ebay auctions, online games and stuff, arcade stuff, gamers site stuff, unsigned bands free flash games, CD’s and stuff, friends and stuff, and a LOT of advertising stuff. You will also find on the left side the handiest archive tool I have seen yet – a drop down menu that allows you to locate specific dates for posts. On the right hand navigation bar you will see links and menus for da computer stuff, mo computer stuff, science links, geek people stuff, funny stuff, and yes, more advertising stuff. The unfortunate thing about both navigation bars is that it will take you some time to find all of this ‘stuff’ simply due to the exorbitant amount of advertising. I also wouldn’t mind seeing an About Me page on the blog, as there isn’t one currently. I think a categories menu could be added as well as that will simplify the blog a bit more and make it a little more apparent what the ‘stuff’ of the blog is about. Also the bloggeries themselves should be hyperlinked to open up that individual page.

The content is well handled, this blog definitely has a personal voice and some quips in and out of posts make that obvious. The writing is well done, but this is not a very active blog. The 6 posts on the main page included all blog activity since March 5, and while there was a June entry, I think more blogging is necessary. Another glitch is one post is missing a headline, which is obviously an oversight but when posts are few, the error glares on the page. Pictures are relevant and there are enough of them, however the advertising on this blog is excessive to the point of distraction. Unfortunately however, I can’t give this blog more than a 2.4 due to the aforementioned issues. A little cleanup and some regular content however I think will give this blog much success. If it was cleaned up and alot more active it could score well.

Fast Weight Loss Tips Blog – Bloggeries Review

Weight loss is such a huge topic today, there are probably more people that you know that are either on a diet, trying to lose weight, or simply trying to eat better. You may want to recommend Brad Chappel’s Fast Weight Loss blog to him — . Here Brad draws from his own personal experiences to share with you the most effective weight loss tricks. What I like about this blog is Brad highlights in a very well-written fashion the juxtaposition between how easy it is to gain weight, and how difficult it is to lose it. Brad shares with his readers on how the key to get success in life is to keep on learning good things from wherever you get. It does not get much simpler than that, and we could all use a little dose of simple truth now and then. He also makes it well known that winning the race is to be steady and slow, and fast may not always be the best. For example his post “Drinking more water for losing extra weight” is some advice that we could all use, but he offers some excellent alternatives for getting your water intake if you are not a huge water fan. Other posts you will find enlightening are Satisfactory eating with fewer calories, Healthy weight loss foods, Calorie burning exercises, Drinking more water for losing extra weight, How to lose more pounds, More than half of adults in European Union overweight, How to lose love handles tips, weight loss motivational tips, Heavy born infants more likely to be overweight later on, How a glass of apple juice daily will do the trick, and Overweight getting results from exercising.

Navigation on this site is fairly straightforward. Posts are left marginalized, and the additional blog content can be found in the right navigation bar. The blog offers a nice beige background with forest green border, and dark brown text leaving it very easy on the eyes and an enjoyable read. On the right navigation bar, you can subscribe to the feed and check out Brad’s favorite Fast Weight Loss posts including “How to lose Love Handles” and “How to lose 10 pounds in two weeks”, both subjects any weight loss participant would probably jumpt to first. You will also find here a menu of various weight loss blogs, a disclaimer on the medical accuracy of the blog, and a series of standard blog widgets. I wouldn’t mind seeing some categories in this section either, this topic could easily be divided into exercise, diet, goal setting, cardio, yoga, and items of that nature to organize the blog a little bit more. Some pictures would also be a great addition to this blog as currently the posts are standard text, and pictures would definitely spice this one up a bit.

Overall I am going with 3.5 here, and just a few suggestions. The content is well done, even though clearly English is not the first language here. However, this is barely noticeable which to me speaks volumes on the content quality as it is very difficult to get a point across in a tongue different than your own. The posts are fairly frequent, every few days or so. I would suggest to entice his readers a bit more to perhaps include a daily weight loss tip, nothing major just a quip to keep daily active posting. Then perhaps additions of longer articles at the current frequency would balance the blog out excellently. I would also suggest taking AdSense out of every single post, I don’t think it is necessary, and could be a bit distracting. Otherwise, I think this is an excellent blog, as do each of Brad’s 114 readers obviously. I think with just a few tweaks it could be a stunning success. And for a blog that is about personal growth and goal achievement, I think that would be well deserved.

Chic Armoire – Bloggeries of A Fashionista – Blog Review

If you love clothes, then this blog may pique your interest — . Meet Michelle, the owner and author of Chic Armoire that is all about one girl in Central Virginia who is searching for intelligent fashion life on this planet. She has spent her entire life devoted to the world of paper cutting and dressmaking, breathed in the fashion magazines at a very early age, and was foreshadowing Steven Robinson’s LaCoste addiction by wearing one LaCoste polo dress for an interminable length of time. Michelle’s blog contains a host of fashion tidbits here and there, and whatever interest you may have in fashion, you will be sure to find it here. Read her recent posts to see how “deep” she is in: Tears of Joy (over a dress), Go International, Artbag of New York, SJP Bitten (it’s all ANYONE has been talking about this week), Fakes are never in Fashion, Q94 Melissa and Sid, Donatella Rules, June Rag Review Parts 1-3, Web Updates and many more.

Navigation on the site is very simple. The posts are right marginalized and the blog necessities are left marginalized in a navigation bar. The posts are relatively frequent, almost daily with a few exceptions, and the content is very conversational which suits this niche. There are plenty of pictures to satisfy fellow fashionistas as well. The left navigation bar contains her fashion story in the About Me section, as well as a host of fashion blogs to visit, recent posts menu, archives menu, and the Categories AKA “Everything in its Place” menu. If you are looking for something specific, you will find it in its place and the categories include accessories, the addict, banana republic, beauty, bliss, bumble and bumble, clothing, coach, fug girls, JCrew, mistakes, money, press, rags, RVA Fashionista, smashbox, storage, Style.com, Target, Tricks, and so much more.

I am going to give this one a 3.3. I like the navigation, and the content is somewhat unique from other fashion blogs. I really like the conversational style here. I also like how I am not swamped with advertising as I have been with previous fashion blogs (not necessarily for review, but on my own personal quest). I think this blog has a nice readership and could actually use a little bit of advertising if it wanted to monetize a little bit. I think some of the larger content pieces can be broken down into smaller posts to spread them out a little more. I also wouldn’t mind seeing more pictures, there are some on the main page currently, but when going through archives the blog gets a little dry viewing wise, not content. When a Prada bag is mentioned for example it wouldn’t hurt to induce other’s drool factors with a pic. Overall though, a very comprehensive fashion site that I wouldn’t mind seeing again.
