Famous Motivational and Inspirational Quotes – Blog Review

Who doesn’t love a good quote? Whether you are looking for something to lift your spirit, move you, tickle your funny bone or anything in between, you can find the quote you are looking for here at Famous Motivational and Inspirational Quotes where you will find old wisdom and new lessons by Jim. Login here to get a quote of the day, maxim, saying, cliché, or wise words that have been collected from a variety of sources. You can get a good idea about the quality of quotes and inspiration from this blog through any of the recent posts: Inspiring – Happy Quotes – John Dryden, Quotes – Yukio Mishima, Pain – Hatred Quotes – James Baldwin, Work – Luck Quotes – Michael Bloomberg, Management Quotes – Robert Townsend, Perseverance Quotes by Samuel Jackson and Innovation Quotes – Thomas Edison. There is also an entry for Quotes of the Month, and there is a huge source of quotes symbolizing Liberty, Freedom, and Equality in honor of Independence Day.

While the site has an overall appearance of being a little busy, it does not have any navigation flaws. Posts are left marginalized with the standard right sided navigation bar. The appearance from an overall perspective is appealing, though slightly busy. The background is a montage/collage of historical figures and the header and footer both have serene mountain pictures that are intended to inspire calmness. Below the list of the daily postings is a series of cartoons for inspiration and a smile, and then a long list of famous quotes with pictures of the quotee. You will find legends in this list such as JFK, George Bernard Shaw, Woody Allen, and so many more. The right sided navigation bar contains a list of his blogs, advertising, a place to subscribe to the blog either through email or RSS, blogroll, and his extensive list of categories. I won’t list all of the categories here, there are literally scores and scores of them. Suffice it to say that if you are looking for a quote within a specific niche, you will find it somewhere in the categories menu. Some of them included: Common Sense, Achievements, Attitudes, Assumptions and Classic Quotes

I am going with a 3.5 on this one, this blog lost some points with me for appearance. I think there are elements to the appearance that I find very appealing, and as would his readers. But a lot of it is quite busy and I had some issues with navigation as a result. I think the section below the postings with all of the cartoons and historical quotes can probably be moved to a separate page, or within one of the category links. I also find the amount of advertising to be on the excessive side, as I was looking for quotes in amongst the ads, whereas it really should be the other way around. Overall however, I think this blog has a great idea for his niche, and I think it would be a lot more effective once some of these appearance changes are managed.

Silver Monthly – Silver Investing – Bloggeries Review

If money is of any interest to you, and who isn’t interested in money, then perhaps you want to stop in to Silver Monthly: Resource for Silver Investing. If you have a look at it, you will see just how right they probably are, it is a very comprehensive resource when it comes to the metal exchange system. This blog has sought information from several resources that will help you determine where silver fits into your modern portfolio. Any of their recent posts will give you an excellent idea as to how comprehensive this blog really is: A history of money and banking in the United States: Book Review; Silver Bearish Investor Vs. Silver Bullish Investors; Eight Rules for Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) Success; MAG Silver Corp. to List on the American Stock Exchange; Chicago Futures Markets Post Record Volume in June; Gold, Silver Futures Advance as Dollar Weakens Against the Euro, Silver Price to Remain High on Investor Interest, U.S. Gold Corp Should Gain on Shaky Dollar, and Silver Stocks Outperform Gold Stocks.

The navigation is very simple on this site, with posts being left marginalized and two right navigation bars. Appearance also is very simple and readable, with black text on blue columned backgrounds against a primary white background. The left-sided right navigation bar contains a links menu, stock quotes, metal prices and a search bar as well as the categories of “All”, “Silver Investing Articles”, “Silver News”, and “Books Reviewed”. You will also find a link to the Silver Forum if you are interested, as well as a menu for the Most Popular Posts which will give you information on how to survive mutual funds, and which companies and countries are the major producers of silver. On the right-sided navigation bar you will also find a comments menu and the recent posts links.

I am going with a 4 for this one. The only suggestions I would have would be to add some pictures to give a little oomph to the blog – even simple pictures of money or gold or silver. Also I really like to see an About page on blogs, even on ones as professional as this one. It gives the blog a voice and even a little bit as to how the blog came into fruition would be very interesting to the readers I think. On other accounts however, the blog scores excellently for superbly written content, very professional appearance, and efficient usability with the navigation system in place. I also thought the advertising was so well formatted, that it could probably even use a little more if it wants to without running the risk of distraction. Judging by the quality of the recent comments in the very organized comments menu, I think this blog has a good following. Given the way the market fluxes today however, it could probably pick up a few readers along the way with some of these suggestions. Overall, the blog is doing well though and is a very professional and easy read.

Blogging South Beach Florida – Bloggeries Review

Take a minute to check out a little bit of the glamorous side of life and tour the famous South Beach. This blog will give you all that you need to know about the beauty that is South Beach including news, reviews, events, places to see, and things to do. The blogger loves and lives in South Beach and gives you both an insider’s and tourist’s point of view about this town. This blog is intended to provide something for everyone whether you are a tourist, frequent visitor, or seasoned local of South Beach. Check out some of the events and activities that are blogged in recent posts: Corona Light EVP Beach Volleyball Tour Hits South Beach; Art Basel Miami Beach December 7-10 2006; What moves you Miami?; Versace Mansion – Everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask; Best of Miami 2006 – Miami New Times; and South Beach Dining Guide.

Navigation on this blog is fairly straightforward and that is probably because at this point there isn’t much left to it. Posts are left marginalized with standard blog features contained in the right navigation bar. These include blog stats (over 40,000 visitors), recent posts menu, recent comments menu, blog calendar, blog roll, and top posts. I really liked the comments menu, it keeps the author in touch with her readers and it gives them a personal ownership on the blog. Also, this blog does have (or did have) a fairly large following, with many local businesses seeking notoriety or mention through the blog. I also thought that with over 40K visitors, the site must be doing pretty good. However, with a years worth of posts on the main page, it is hard to say too much more than that that is positive about the blog. Further, I did not see a categories menu, and with a blog like this, I think it could really use one. Categories can include dining, attractions, history, shopping, beaches, and so much more. This specific niche is perfectly set up for a categories menu. The same thing could be said for an archives menu, which is nonexistent on this blog.

I am going with a 2 for this one. I love the niche and concept behind this blog, but a severe lack of updating has pretty much put this one in the dusty pile for me. Local business has obviously signed on to support this blog, and this is a marketing tool the blog is not taking advantage of, and one that could give it serious notoriety in the community. Again, having a years worth of posts on the main page is probably doing the score the most damage here, even a weekly post with some activity, highlighted attraction, or restaurant review would do this blog a world of good. Throw in a few pictures and this would be a fantastic South Beach blog. If the author decides to keep this one going, with these suggestions this could be a very successful blog.
