NBA DUNKS Basketball Blog – Bloggeries Review

Bloggeries Blog Review - 2 on 5Welcome to another blog review from Bloggeries.com. Today’s review features the blog NBA Dunks which is fairly self-explanatory from the title. It is all about the most amazing dunks in the NBA and the players who “slam ‘em down”. If you are a basketball fan you are going to enjoy this site, so long as you are not looking for dunk information beyond 2006. If you are looking for tickets however, they do have active links for ticket purchases for games that actually occur this season. Besides ticket sales and some slammin’ good dunk shots, you will be able to catch up on some Buzz Beaters, dunks that come out of nowhere during those last critical seconds of the game. You can also find ticket dealers for specialty games such as All-Star, Finals, and Orlando Magic.

Carmello Anthony Big Slam Dunk!

Other features you will find on this site are results from NBA Dunk contests from 1984 to 2006, and some pretty unbelievable footage of some amazing NBA Dunks. Some of these dunk shots are for NBA aficionados, a retro look at the famous Julius Erving shot for example, one that appeals to Sixers fans “of a certain age”. Of course they also have dunk greats like Michael Jordan, Vince Carter, Carmello Anthony etc… You can also go to some of the Blog’s additional links which will take you anywhere from Golf to recipes to Frank Sinatra. I did not bother to check those out; my guess was those links were as archived as the site itself. Navigation is simple here because although the site is interesting, there is not much to it. You can choose what dunks to see and when. The layout is general, and not unappealing. And the format was pretty standard.

For content I am going .5 here, I was torn. The quality of the available footage was GOOD, but it was old. I also figured if I really wanted to see these dunks I would probably go to You Tube first, and not this Blog. Uniqueness gets average points as well. I like the idea of the site; I think a site dedicated to Dunks is original. Lack of activity however dampers my thoughts on its originality and quality. Back in its day this was a fairly current site but it loses points today for no current action. While the google ads were obvious, they were not intrusive. I think if the owner kept this site current, he could see some decent ad revenue come in. Overall I am going with 2.2 here. If this site was somehow “revived” I think it would fair very well for basketball fans. Otherwise, it does not merit much attention.

Whudahexup Celebrity Gossip – Blog Review

Bloggeries Blog Review 3 on 5Bloggeries brings you another review: Whudahexup. This blog may as well also be known as Entertainment Central for those that like to dish about celebrities. This spot does precisely what it aims to, and that is to inform any and everyone about the lives and loves of the entertainment world. Here you will find the latest and greatest information in releases for music, movies, television, and everything in between. To add to this you will also find out information you may not have known about a current celebrity. Who’s been arrested? Whose Beamer just got the tow? And who has the cutest baby? If you need to know everything about celebrity life, this Blog is an excellent source for you. The news is so current that between two views of it in a single day new posts had been added.

Open up the Blog and the first thing you can do is join in on celebrating Beyonce’s birthday. As you scroll down you can see the nominees for the Snarky Awards, honoring the best and worst in current Hollywood drama. Everything from best and worst album to best and worst social networking site and anything you can think of to entertain you in between is up for an award. Pick a name, any name that you know is a current celebrity and you will them somewhere on the list of nominees. You will also notice that some celebrities appear in both the best and worst categories. Gwen Stefani for example appears as a nominee in both the best and worst artist category. Not that she has any issues with self-esteem, but I hope she doesn’t win both.

Navigate through the site and you will find weekly updates on all the latest releases. The site updates Global Singles Chart and Global Albums Chart on a weekly basis, and also publishes the most current US box office results. There is a lot of really useful information here if you are looking for celebrity news, but in some cases you will really have to look for it as there are some layout issues on the opening page. The site scrolls through slowly, and the opening layout is a little hard to get through. You have to scroll down several pages worth to get through one post, and the site runs slowly. The Snarky Awards take up a lot of room and are limited to one portion of the page, leaving a wide portion of the screen completely blank. This space could be utilized a little more effectively by moving the layout around a little bit. If you want to look at archived posts or move to specific celebrity categories, you are going to be scrolling for a while to get to the opposite side of the page. I’m talking they are at the bottom left of the page. If anything the categories should be readily accessible as more people would be interested in that then the “Blog Roll” or Miscellaneous links.

Overall though, this blog serves its purpose and that is fill your ear on all that is celebrity. Its information is extremely current and is written very well. It has an average appearance which is fine as its purpose does not require too much splash. For content, uniqueness, and activity on the site it scores above average, but its navigation issues are impeding its effectiveness. For that its overall score comes in at a 3.4. Once the layout issues and navigation effects are in place however, it will be a very entertaining entertainment center. For any successfull blog the content and writing style are what is most important. This blog scores very well in that regard. If they make the template more user friendly or change it all together this blog’s usefulness would increase signifigantly. Good luck!

Briefcase Journal – Bloggeries Blog Review

Take a minute to introduce yourself to John Wells, a “twenty-something” undergrad at Ohio State University blogging his academia adventures at his blog the “Briefcase Journal” This site is a collection of all of John’s experiences in his senior year of University. Here you will find John tell you about everything from the magic of his wedding day to his pre-graduation jitters, when most college students will describe these two epic events conversely. John describes himself as nobody amazing by any means, but as you go through his Blog you will find yourself disagreeing with him. You will know you are in John’s spot by the Arabic alphabet that denotes his Blog name. You will be inspired by its opening quote, “Difficult takes a day. Impossible takes a week.” As you go through the Blog you will find yourself intrigued by his journeys and travels in England, his all nighter term paper experiences, and feel honored to understand the enchantment of his wedding day. You will further be humbled by the introduction of his newly found inspiration – his lovely wife Tohima and her adorable son Hamzah.

The interesting dichotomy throughout the entire site is his self-described claims that he is just a college senior with a couple of majors going on and absolutely no set goals beyond graduation. However as you read through his memoirs, you will come to know a man that is focused and driven and motivated by philosophical approaches to daily living. Reading his experiences will allow you to get to know this right-handed man who prides himself on having tried over 250 shower gels and has also toured former Soviet Socialist Republics giving live centrifugal force demonstrations. Every new post you will read you will find yourself philosophizing right along with him as you come to understand this is not your average college kid.

The Blog itself is easy and enjoyable to read, and its writing caliber far surpasses any college level writing that this reviewer has come across. It features a black background and white print. This type of background is typically difficult to read on the Internet, but this goes unnoticed. The background becomes an effective backdrop for the outstanding set of graphics John exhibits, all expertly located on the site design and of professional quality. The older posts are a little more difficult to find, as you have to scroll to the bottom of the page to find them. The posts themselves are somewhat sporadic, but given that he is a recently married college senior facing graduation, that is not surprising. For content, uniqueness, and appearance the Blog scores well above average and it earns good navigation scores as well. Its sporadic activity is the only thing that brings the overall score of 4.3 down, but perhaps we will see more of John once that jittery graduation day has come and gone. We hope so!
