Online Dating Stuff Blog – Bloggeries Review

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Blog ReviewAre you a single looking to meet someone once and for all? Or perhaps you are just looking for some casual fun and are tired of the singles scene in your area. How about online dating, have you tried it yet? In this day and age it seems to be THE thing for singles to do. If this is something you are considering, then you definitely need to check out “Online Dating Stuff”. The opening headline for the most recent post reads, “OkCupid.com Poll Reveals Kinkiest, Loneliest, Most Religious States in America”. It’s a good catch, anything screaming kinky is going to have the reader investigate further. What the reader is going to find is a Blog that has got to be one of the most comprehensive review site for online dating.

If you are thinking about online dating, you are going to find a review here of just about anything that is available online for today’s singles. There are reviews from casual dating sites (Ok Cupid for one) to more serious single matchers such as eHarmony — a site where they pride themselves on their marriage rate. At online-dating-stuff you will discover what sites are free, what sites you have to pay for, what sites are giving free trials, and what kind of costs you can expect to incur. It almost seems like you are hiring an agent to find you some talent. But if you are having trouble meeting someone, online dating may be the way to go. Why NOT commission someone else to do all your dirty work? Here you will be able to find a site dedicated to the Jewish, the bowler, the Must Love Dogs lover, or even a site strictly dedicated to the gold-digging woman. I kid you not; there is a site there for everyone. Welcome to dating in the 21st century.

Online Dating in America

The reviews are well written, and well documented. They are comprehensive and provide pictures of the website as well as personal testimonials. The pictures are clear, relevant, and give a very good impression for the online dating connoisseur. The layout shows a solid list of singles sites as well as a good list of links if you just want your mind to wander. The overall layout is well done with Ad Sense ads blending right into the color scheme of the Blog. I wondered if this Blog was an affiliate site for all of the companies it is reviewing, but if it is, you can’t tell. In fact, this site is so well done you almost can’t even tell that it is a Blog. If you are looking for something specific, the navigation on this Blog makes it very easy for you.

I am going to give this site 4 out of 5. It is well written, well laid out, and it is very easy to navigate. The content is well done, and it is unique as it offers options for every type of dater. The site is not unappealing and offers an easy layout and design. The posts are fairly current, with the most recent being the 3rd of April. They range from every 3rd day to 2 wks apart, and that is the only thing that brings the overall mark down. It seems to be getting more current but when you can see Feb 1st – April 3rd on the main page of any blog…. It doesn’t make me reach for the bookmark. My suggestion to improve this would be to add more relationship type articles or dating posts / testimonials on days where there are no sites to review.

Nate is a Blog – Bloggeries Review

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Blog Reviews 5 on 5!If you need a good laugh (and who doesn’t?), check out Nate is a Blog “A Place where Panda Bears can ride Unicorns, but Unicorns can not Ride Panda Bears”. I am not quite sure what that means, but it’s funny, isn’t it? Nate is a stand-up comic working with a 2 man comedy show, Nate and Nathan. He also works with 5 Days Shy, an improve comedy troupe out of Portland, Oregon. His is a random humor blog, and by that he means, random. You can find anything and everything that could possibly be funny from top 10 lists to Dear Rapper letters. Sunday’s post started off with “WWJC” meaning, What Would Jesus Chuck? This was a top 10 list of Best Items to Turn into Nunchucks. The post I found the most amusing during my time there was “Disney: The Gayest Place on Earth”. And it’s funny. If you have small children and have watched The Wiggles at least once, you can relate to this post. But even if you don’t, it will make you laugh. I won’t spoil any more of it; you definitely have to check it out for yourself.

The navigation was very easy on this blog. On the front right side of the page is the compilation of the month’s posts which are coming in every other day or so. On the right side, you can check out Nate’s profile, subscribe to receive his blog via email, or check out any of his list of links. These include a melting pot of choices from “The Loudest Child” to “Stupid Criminals”. You can also see his “Days Since Last Accident” report which I found pretty funny. The archived posts are easy to get to, and you definitely want to have a look at those. The site is nothing but laughs, and that is what it intends to do. The layout could use a little bit of work as the advertising carried no subtlety at all, but that would be my only criticism. Otherwise the layout was very easy to navigate, simple, and easy on the eyes which is what makes this blog work. The content and the writing is what you go to this site for, not for pretty backgrounds.

Shark Jumping out of Stream

Other reviewers have laughed out loud and subscribed to the feed, and that is definitely a recommendation from this reviewer as well. It is one of those sites you can go to when you just need a pick me up or a smile. This blog scores well above average for content and uniqueness. The site is funny and written excellently. You WILL laugh out loud. Navigation receives high scores as well. I would simply suggest some very simple layout changes to perhaps disguise some of the advertising. For the most part the posting is fairly current, but I think this blog would receive a lot more attention if there was a daily post. Overall I am giving this a 4.5 and am definitely looking forward to visiting again!

Joyce’s Blog – Bloggeries Review

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Bloggeries Blog Review 3 on 5When you arrive at Joyce’s Blog you will meet a 32 year old Hong Kong writer who is self-described as a sporadic blogger. She claims to have no nationalistic tendencies indicating the reason for this is that she is “Montreal-born, Connecticut-bred and Hong Kong-based, though my mom, dad and brother are in Melbourne”. No nationalistic tendencies but her Blog contains strict adherence to Hong Kong content. Her posts “flip flops at the opera” and “killing a chicken to save a thousand monkeys” are well headlined and grab your attention. She has some comprehensive photo albums on the site if you are looking for some Hong Kong images.

Joyce is very knowledgeable on many aspects of Hong Kong culture, politics, and art. Her non-nationalistic upbringing has no doubt contributed to her being very well-read and well-cultured. You will also notice her unique writing style if you can get past some of the font issues. The font is extremely inconsistent with some posts containing 2 different types. In other posts the font is so small that I found myself barely skimming through the material. It’s too bad really, because I really wanted to know what happened to the monkeys.

Great View - Picture taken in Hong Kong

There are very few indents or spacing in between paragraphs, making the entire Blog content difficult to read. Again, I found myself skimming more than reading. The overall layout from first glance is fine, traditional, and easy on the eyes. Columns on the border are nicely laid out with standard black print and light blue borders and highlighted text. The photo albums are good and comprehensive, but it would be nice to see larger shots throughout the bloggeries so the reader knows what she is referring to.

Overall the content and appearance of the site as a whole are pretty standard, garnering her some average ratings which is about the highest credit I can give her. While the information she provides is current, her posts range from 3-10 days apart and it is difficult to match the congruency there. If I could get past some of her font issues, I would probably be able to give her some points for uniqueness. But overall, while probably informative, this Blog did not make any efforts to sustain my attention span and for that I am going to have to give her a 2.5 out of 5.
