Becoming a ProBlogger - Blogging as a Career

Blogging is quickly becoming main stream, especially now that businesses of every size and industry are beginning to understand that they have a real need for an online web log. However, many businesses are not equipped to create their own blog, because they do not have staff with the knowledge necessary to maintain a blog, and many companies do not want to actually commit staff time to one of these blog projects if the work can be outsourced easily. This is where the blogging profession is becoming prevalent, because many businesses both large and small are more than willing to hire outside of their company to find someone who can create an effective blog for their company. Pro Bloggers are professional blog writers who write under a contract for a company. This is a very real and attainable profession; all it takes is accumulating some understanding of the world of blogging and finding the right companies to work for.

The first step in beginning the process of blogging as a profession is simply to begin with a blog. It does not actually take much effort for you to begin your profession as a blogger, the first step is to create a blog. Once you have an established blog, you need to begin letting people know that you are hirable as a professional blogger. This is easily done simply by including a "hire me" button directly on your blog, but there are other ways to promote your services as well.

If you do not already have a blog, then you need to create one before you can continue. You can easily find a free blog, and within an hour or so you can be signed up with a couple of blog entries already posted. Once you have this set up, you are pretty much all set to begin advertising yourself.

The next step is to create a portfolio blog which will help you secure blogging gigs. Your blog is going to act like a sales person on a 24 hour a day basis, every day of the year. Your blog is going to be what sells your abilities to companies everywhere. You can attract companies from all over the globe.

How does one achieve blogging contracts? If you want to earn more money, you need to have more contracts! Now that you have created a blog, there are many different ways that you can get blogging contractors. Here are the easiest methods worth trying:

The first is to look on out-sourcing sites for blog jobs. You should check out freelance sites for out sourcing work, like www.elance.com and www.getafreelancer.com. There are almost constantly new jobs being posted for people who need bloggers.

You should also check out professional blogging job sites. There are many different sites which are dedicated specifically to blogging jobs, and they are springing up more and more in recent months.

Another option is to look for companies that you would love to write for, and check to see if they already have a blog or not. If these companies have competitors, and those competitors have blogs, then you may want to contact them to see if they need a blogger. Consider contacting the competitor too, because once they realize that their competition has a blog, they will likely also be interested. You should make a proposal to these companies, by letting them know exactly what a blog is capable and what it can do for their business.

Becoming a pro blogger is not a difficult process at all. The first step is simply to create a blog so that you have a portfolio. Your blog is what is going to advertise your capabilities as a blogger, and you cannot show a company how effective you are at blogging until you have something to show them. If you enjoy the art of blogging, then this is a totally attainable profession for you, as long as you take the right steps and are willing to contact companies about their blogs. Blogging professionally can be extremely lucrative if you obtain contracts from many different companies, even competing companies in some cases. Soon enough, you can easily turn your blogging skills into a full time career.
