Hey guys I'm brand new here I found the site trying to sell off my first blog. I started a blog about tablet pc news and reviews. I enjoy reading blogs and news about the latest technology so I thought id try making a blog about the tablet pc niche. My main reason was that tablets are very expensive and that they could potentially earn alot of affiliate sales. I first started it in January and i just can't take writing about it. I was really hasty about getting started and trying to make money. I had read that one of the most important things is to blog about what you like but i guess I didn't really listen enough. So I'm here just trying to remind everyone make sure you like what you are blogging about. If your going to invest hours of your days and put in months of work into something you better like what your writing about. Its an obvious but in my case an often overlooked tip but make sure you blog about what you like.

Couldn't agree more. If I tried to write about, let's say..football, just because it seemed to be what everyone was reading, I'd end up being miserable, and so would the few who happened to read what I wrote.

Great tip! It seems so obvious, but there are many people who jump into blogging for the money. I think this is the reason why there are so many unsuccessful blogs with lousy content and that are cluttered with ads. Even if money is your goal, choosing a topic that interests you is the only way to make your blog last. I think that if anyone is going to blog, they should be writing for themselves, because they thoroughly enjoy it. Writing just the thing to please your readers will never be enjoyable for you. So, in my opinion, even if you're blogging about something that's not immensely popular, or that a lot of people would disagree with, it's worth it if you enjoy doing it.

You have to be really skilled to write good posts on a topic you don't particularly like, so I completely agree with you on this point, especially in the case of blog posts, where information tends to repeat itself after a while. __________________ Lloyd Burrell Publisher Office Desk Reviews |

kmag21, have you decided on a new topic to blog about? One you're more interested in?

One of the biggest mistakes that I see new bloggers make is picking a topic with th sole purpose of making money. There is nothing wrong with making money, but when you have no interest in the topic, know nothing about the topic,,, how are you supposed to post quality content? In reply to that, a lot of bloggers say they will do their research. But who has time to work a full time job, spend time with the family, write articles, and have to do hours of research for "every" article they write? Why not pick a topic that you have experience in and first hand knowledge of, and go from there, |

yep! It's definitely important to be genuinely interested in what you're blogging about. It can become noticeable to the reader that your heart is not in your subject - readers who are genuinely interested in your topic. Therefore your blog wouldn't do very well in the long run aneyway. |

Precisely the point. Thanks for sharing that to us. ![]() However, in some cases, we also get to write post that we hardly ever think of but just have to do it. On the bright side, I get to learn new stuff and that's how I come to appreciate it. On the other hand, it's still the best to write about what we love. Just like what we are all saying here. Through it, we as writers can easily connect to the readers. As a result, they get to enjoy what they are reading. And that becomes a more powerful impact for our blog to get. Cheers!
