As a columnist, I've always been trained to keep my work between 600-700 words. I keep my blog posts in the same range as well. It's not too long for readers, and it's not lacking any length or depth. |

| That is the one question that no 2 bloggers will agree on. If you have a group of 5 bloggers and ask that question, your going to get 5 different answers. My opinion, your post size is determined by a lot of factors: Targeted audience - are you targeting doctors, scientist, or people interested in short gossip articles? What is the reading ability of your targeted audience? The better they are at reading, they more likely they are to read long articles. Is it a review? People looking for review want information. Just saying "this is a good product" is not good enough. Is your blog a micro blog - think about it, what "exactly" are you trying to say with your blog? |

i think i really depends on who is your audience and on what are you trying to say.

Yeah as above, all about audience. A book review could be long, because the reads are used to reading. Wrestling match review - No offence to fans...but I'd keep it much less ------------------------------------------------------------------------ But as a general rule it's about quality of content, if it's quality for 1500 words there is nothing wrong with that. Just split it up in to pages and have it well structured so it doesn't look over whelming. Various headers also give the reader a chance to skip a paragraph and move to a paragraph of interest. Something that's always better than a viewer leaving the site altogether. |

@Expert - I have written successful blog posts with 2000+ words, and many that are much shorter. I've even had good blog articles that are only about 150 words. If your readers like your topic, and and your ability to write, and you have real information, then you should just write what works best for you. As a general rule of thumb, I notice that 500 words is a nice size for a blog post. When I've written above 2,500 it becomes very unwieldy. However, I've had successful blog articles at MANY varied lengths: Do what works.

I find mine tend to average around 500 words, but really a post should only be as long as it needs to be. Don't give too much detail, it bores people. Don't give too little or they get confused. Make your post the minimum to get your message across, plus a little more for embellishment. A wall of text will bore a reader as will short sentence long posts.

as for me, i try to keep it short. if i post too much, i try to make sure it's worth it for my readers to read. despite that i write short posts, i do put in all the needed infos in it.

Ive seen posts that take up all of a page. I believe something of that length is too long but in general keep it at what works for you. If your niche is something like photography or design or something though you may have an audience who enjoy images more than words so perhaps cater to that.
