We are all bothered about getting a very high traffic. But most of us stay confused when we ponder over the question: How many posts are required to get a high traffic to our blogs? The answer is very simple. Even one single post if well optimized can give you a traffic which even thousands of posts cannot bring if they not indexed properly in the Search Engines. The real time traffic that we get are only through these marvellous search engines which charge us nothing to send traffic to our sites. If you want visitors to come to your house easily you need to build a well made road which will bring the visitors searching for your house exactly in front of its doorsteps. And this is what the role of the Search Engines is. They are the roads that bring the traffic to your site. We know so many SEO techniques and we even utilize them in our daily blogging lives. But even after trying our level best we finally get exhausted and say that it is time for us to quit. And that is exactly what we probably do. We think that we can never put our competitors behind. Let us reconsider the question: How many posts are required to get high traffic to our site? I recently stumbled upon an astrology site with a single post and 6520 page views! Does this mean that his site was well optimized? Or does this mean that the keywords used by the author were strong enough to grab new visitors to his site everyday? The answer to both the questions is in affirmative. To those who think that it must have been a very old site, let me tell you that i stumbled upon it just a month after it had been created! So how did that one post get so well optimized as to attract so many visitors. And now this is the right answer: Whatever you write has to be optimized. Every post should have a huge number of quality links pointing towards it from major high ranking web sites. One of my friends was once speaking about a software that could optimize your site and give you a huge number of visitors everyday. But i personally feel that the software is risky enough to make the Search Engines suspicious that you are spamming all around all around the world wide web which is undesired especially if you are running a Blogger blog. If you are on Blogger your site will be deleted permanently. And this could mean a very great damage to your life or at least to your pocket if you expected to earn a tonful of money from that site. High traffic does not come from huge number of posts, it comes through quality posts. Getting a post optimized takes much time especially if your site is new and is not having recommendable high quality links pointing towards it. With time you will definitely gain traffic. If you try to run after high traffic you will become like this fellow which i suppose you like like to avoid. So have patience. Also let me tell you that it is true that every time you hit the publish button the traffic starts soaring high. But that does not mean that you simply write anything and post it on your blog. You will lose many visitors trying to gain newer ones. And this of course is undesirable. Even if you write many posts they should be well written and cross checked again and again to find the mistakes if at all present inside your post. All the best |

One thing I need to add, SEO is the basis foundation of all websites, but it does not mean that you are no.1 on Google you will get tons of traffic, most of the time it depends on the search demand. However getting traffic from search engines can be quite predictable. Many webmasters after creating their sites and tries to generate traffic they got stuck at some point and they can't go beyond their daily traffic, many got stuck at 100 to 500 a day. I also was stuck for some time, untill I realized that most of the traffic arrived from google. This was the point where I realized that I was concentrating too much on the search engines. There are many other sources that you should promote concurrently, such as linkbuilding, anchor links and social media. Btw, some sites may have no SEO at all, but they come from external sources, they mainly depend on high backlink count, loyal subscribers and advertising traffic. It's good to research the site and learn from its visitor trends. I suggest that you check out compete[dot]com and research their trend. |

I am surendrakumar (remember you left a reply on my how many posts are required post in bloggeries). The best way to increase the traffic is through link building which is very difficult because the webmasters with a higher traffic are always egoistic and regret giving link to a site with a lower page rank

I don't think the answer is in a number of posts, and to chase after the links without MORE concern over your content than links, is to put the cart before the horse. Work on quality content combined with a minimal amount of social media marketing (used right!!!) : All else will come. I promise.

Well, the kind of 6K++ pageviews on one single blog post could come from social bookmarking sites like Digg, Stumbleupon etc. We did have experience of old blog posts that brought us more than 100K++ traffic a year |

I ditto Askalexia, you want fast traffic, try digg, stumbleupon or kirsty (if your a mom site). The traffic boost is kinda a one-time event (at least it was for me) but it was nice nonetheless.

Traffic has less to do with the number of posts, and more to do with the content of your posts and the topic of your blog. If your blog is about something that is very popular, ie weight loss, it will be very difficult to get traffic no matter how many posts you write or the quality for that matter because of the amount of sites in that niche. With so many blogs out there today, newer blogs face a tough time getting any type of traffic. Focusing on a more specific topic or niche for your blog will help your chances of getting traffic. "Be the big fish in the small pond, not the small fish in the big pond" ^ Very true words of wisdom! It's also the good reasoning why creating a blog about blogging, weightloss (as you gave already as an example), PR and marketing, are all pretty tired topics and hard to really stand out in.
