Default New template question

Hi,

I have a question ;

I’ve changed my template for a free one that I found on the net for my blogspot and now it seems that I can’t change the colors and fonts of the text on my blog… do you guys have any idea what could be the problem ?

Also, could using a free template I found on the net could cause more issues like that?

Thanks so much in advance for your help, I've been reading the board, you guys are awesome )

Hey Sirene, this is actually a problem that a lot of people run into, but it's got an easy solution.

To solve it you need to:
Go to the "Layout" page of your dashboard and click on edit HTML.

Once you're there, look for a line like this

Quote:
/* Variable definitions
====================
<Variable name="bgcolor" description="Page Background Color"
type="color" default="#fff" value="#ffffff">
<Variable name="textcolor" description="Text Color"
type="color" default="#333" value="#333333">
<Variable name="linkcolor" description="Link Color"
type="color" default="#58a" value="#5588aa">
<Variable name="pagetitlecolor" description="Blog Title Color"
type="color" default="#666" value="#666666">
<Variable name="descriptioncolor" description="Blog Description Color"
type="color" default="#999" value="#999999">
<Variable name="titlecolor" description="Post Title Color"
type="color" default="#c60" value="#cc6600">
<Variable name="bordercolor" description="Border Color"
type="color" default="#ccc" value="#cccccc">
<Variable name="sidebarcolor" description="Sidebar Title Color"
type="color" default="#999" value="#999999">
<Variable name="sidebartextcolor" description="Sidebar Text Color"
type="color" default="#666" value="#666666">
<Variable name="visitedlinkcolor" description="Visited Link Color"
type="color" default="#999" value="#999999">
Now the Value=xxxxxx is the part you need to edit to change the color. You can find a corresponding color chart here.

Hope that helped!

Make sure you save it and then refresh your page in the browser.

Then you have some digging to do. Those statements are the CSS that controls your layout and if you change the proper ones, it can't help but show up. Make sure you keep a backup of the orginal template and keep playing with it.

In that case, you would be wise to stay away from making changes until you learn more. Find a new template with the colors you want and change it completely. There are tutorials on YouTube that show how to change a template.

It seems I can't upload a favicon to it either.
Why can't I make changes with a new template ?
