I agree with Nathan, it is really hard to come up with completely original ideas anymore. I try though. My blog is about preschool activities and there are two posts that I haven't seen someone else with a similar idea, they took forever to brainstorm (and are among my more popular posts)

No. However, I think people tend to follow patterns instead of questioning them, and most people who think they are being creative really haven't spend very much time evaluating and asking themselves questions about what they are creating and why.

I think that original ideas are hard to come by now a days. The important thing is to put your own personal twist onto your idea, so that it isn't like reading the same thing over and over again.

Look at how many vampire books there are, or books about pirates or relationships. Some of these books are pretty much the same, while other ones have a unique twist that adds to the concept instead of repeating it.

I whole heartedly agree with this line of thought. It isn't that we are experience the entire lack of original thought and ideas, but we are seeing more people copy what others have slaved over. Which is not all bad if the original is great work, however, it is always a negative when credit is not given.

It's just like music. New in it's own way, built upon something else that already existed. Just like a new technological breakthrough, built with things that already existed. Originality is not dead, it is constantly being reborn.

Originality is definitely not dead! I'm the only person living my life and therefore I am the only one having these exact experiences surely that is original?

A lot of ideas may be similar but everyone has their own style and view point
