Default Content Dos and Don'ts

What are your Do's and Don'ts The first few that come to mind are:

Do:
* keep your content original
* do proof read
* do link to other relevant or similar posts by others
* do think about your reader, not your advertiser

Don't:
* plagurize!!! Google knows by time stamp and will ding you!
* re-use your content, rather link to an older article
* forget to use headers to separate content and provide "grab" lines. Google ranks words in headers higher so it can help your page rank

I know there are more! What are some of the things on your list?

Other things I learned:

*Stop keyword stuffing. Keywords are vital but don't over do it.
*Break content to short simple paragraphs.
*Font style matters, some font size have an inviting effect and others make me sleepy.
*Write with humor. Sometimes it's hard to convey your humor through writing but it's a challenging task.

DO write about what you know.
DO keep it short.
DON'T use run-on sentences.

Google does not look at any time stamp. Duplicate content is best avoided of course.

According to this web-inar, by one of the designers of Google's algorithms, they do not count duplicate content against you in some circumstances... and they do look at time things were posted as one of the reasons to include "source a" over "source b" in the search results.

Another Do... listen to a webinar a day! They are really informative! I've learned TONS from them!

A single (related) image at the start is a good boost for your post. Long, continuous walls of text are not as most people have a hard time reading long essays off computer screens. Reading blogs is not the same as reading books.

Do:
* Always, always, always write with the reader in mind

There is nothing worse than reading a blog post clearly written for the Google spiders. Ugh.
