Don't pretend to be what you aren't. For example, if you're a beginning cook, don't pretend to be an experienced cook giving experienced-cook advice. Even if you do research and come up with the best advice you can, you'll still be inferior to the _real_ experts. Your advice is likely to have flaws and holes, your writing will reflect your lack of knowledge, and the whole product will just be unconvincing. So it won't attract readers. And, yes, this also applies to the zillions of "how to make money on the Internet" blogs written by people who haven't yet made any money to speak of on the Internet. ![]() Instead, blog as what you are--an inexperienced cook, an inexperienced gardener, somebody who's just learning and discovering cool things about their subject. People don't mostly read blogs for information--they read for entertainment and amusement and community and communication. Instead of writing a bad how-to book, write a good set of chatty musings. |

| Keyword stuffing appears when you overdo on-page optimization. Introducing too many keywords too often makes texts read unnatural and silly. So this is bad for both readers, who will eventually leave your website, and search engines, which, lately, have developed tools to fight keyword stuffing. _________ Lloyd Burrell Publisher Office Desk Reviews |

Also. don't ever write your opinions on politics or religion, unless that is what your blog is actually about. Both are divisive issues and could detract readers if that's not why they came to your blog in the first place. In short, stay on topic. |

| While I definitely agree that you should stay on topic and that writing about those subjects can turn people away, it can actually attract a lot of attention, too. People like controversy and well, can you get much more controversial than religion and politics? Just tread carefully if it's that far off your main subject or make sure you make it relevant to your site.
