Perhaps have more than one niche blog, even if only you have a partial passion. I read from this article form Grizz make money, (seems this guy has over a 100 blogs/mini sites) if you want monetization - then go wide - i.e. a flagship of niche multiple blogs. Then go deep, i.e. build up authority on the blogs that you have real passion or interest. Sometimes a marketing/monetization type blogger might just want online searchers looking for a solution or product to buy, rather than necessarily trying to build up a community of readers. As for me, I tend to look/research for another niche to blog (now starting my 8th blog) of which I have a bit of knowledge/interest (sometimes ideas/input from my teenage daughters/nieces has helped), and make money which is working collectively - though has taken several months.

Hi there if we were to choose the 'right' niche i think ideas will be repeated but with different style of writing and opinion. A hungry man will most likely to go for food. A man who wants self enrichment will likely to for personal development blogs etc.. In economics, a product is produced because of demand for the product. But in reality, firms produce a product and then market it through advertisement and persuade people to buy. This is my opinion on blogging too. Last edited by gazzali; April 4th, 2010 at 09:19 AM.. I think you have to enjoy what you're writing about ... that's the most important thing, hands down. If this isn't true, you'll never last for the long haul. But on top of that, if you're trying to actually make money from your blog instead of just doing it as a hobby (which is important to figure out from the beginning), then you have to pick a market that's got a hungry crowd that's willing to pay for information. Entertainment is a good example of a niche that isn't very 'monetizable' - you might be able to get a lot of traffic very quickly, especially if you're blogging about a hot topic, but actually making money from that traffic can be tough. |

I have to agree that you need to love what you write. I've looked at a lot of blogs by people who write to what they think will make money, and their blogs are really boring. I'm in a marketing group, and every single one of them has a marketing blog. They keep asking me why I don't have one and telling me how it will solve all my problems....except, the only people that read their blogs are each other. That market is so oversaturated, and none of them are writing from their hearts, and most of them just post up random stuff to get more posts and it's not even all that useful.
