Default What Content Should There Be In A Personal Blog?

I just read a thread about stalkers. I had never taken into consideration that if I blog about my life, I may be vulnerable to stalkers who just have to email you, contact you and harass you in many different and annoying ways.

So I thought, what content should there be in a personal blog?

I'm thinking about changing the direction of my personal blog to topics such as how well my AdSense report has done, how things are going with my other blog/sites, and of course the usual resourceful/educational blog post I like to do every now and then.

What do you guys thing?

Just becareful that you don't put up any information that tells exactly where you live. And if you have kids, I wouldn't mention where they go to school.

Just try to avoid letting people your daily routines.

I think stuff like that sounds pretty safe. It sounds more like advice to other bloggers than personal info, and if you already have those blogs, then they are already accessible. Just don't include anything that might cause your family trouble, like dates you'll be on vacation and such.

Self homemade porn!

Kidding.

I understand your concern on stalkers as well as trolls and such.

I, myself had to think hundred of times before I decided to blog about my personal life.

Do I want my friends to know that I blog? Do I want my family members to know that I have a blog?

Heck no.

But I still made one and very much happy with it so far.

I think personal blog should be fine as long as you don't post 'delicate' details of your personal life (Address, phone no, full name etc.).

How about photos? I don't have the answer for that.

Rather than using names, stick to generic titles. For example, say 'the local coffee shop' rather than 'starbucks'. Having photos of your car or ususal hangouts also makes it easier for people to identify you, especially if they know you in real life already.

I'd avoid names and photos, and be sketchy about the sort of work you do, if writing a personal blog.

Like others have said, it depends on how comfortable you are with having your personal information on the internet. There is a fine balance where you'll want to include enough personal information to keep it personal, but then you don't want to give out too much as it can also be dangerous.

Just be careful. If you cut out all the "personal" aspects, you're no longer really going to have a personal blog. And is this blog for others to read or just for yourself? Is anyone really going to care how your adsense is going? Probably not unless that's the focus of your blog and that's how you've attracted visitors.

The thing is, there's a chance you're going to run into creepy people regardless. Like Ferox said, use generic terms instead of being too specific. Don't use kids' names. Don't say the name of where you work, who your boss is, etc (and that's not because of stalkers....that's because it could get you in trouble). You'll have the crazies here or there, but don't let it ruin how you do everything or scare you away from doing what you want. Take some precautions and move on.

That is easy. Imagine as if you are talking to a stranger. What information would you be ready to tell him?
