You can be personal but not too personal. You don't have to share everything that you do. Leave somethings to the imagination.

Only put on your blog what you feel comfortable having strangers know about you. Disclosure is a huge issue for us bloggers. You must keep yourself and your family safe. It is really a question that only you can decide the answer to. For example, do you want the world to know what you and your children look like? Do you want the world to know what cinema and shopping centres you visit, and how often? When building your blog, try and see the big picture, and what other, bad, people might want to see... There is no harm in being vague, and can be a testament to your writing if you can convey a message with as little personal details as possible. All depends what you want from your blog. |

I do what could be called a personal blog, but my posts are rarely personal. Sometimes I write about TV Shows, news stories and other things. Other times I write almost short story type posts of situations I've found myself in. I don't usually get too personal on my site and if I do it's generally an exaggeration for humor.

There's some really helpful information on this thread! I've recently started quite a personal blog and I was wondering how to create a balance between being personal and giving out too much information that would make me identifiable and a target for stalking or identity theft! At the end of the day, I think it's alright to share stories and daily routine if you're not too specific. So I might say that i'm a journalist, but not who I write for or I might say that i'm a cashier but not what store I work at etc... |

I have so many interest that there is no reason to go in the over deep end of too personal, but I do like to let my readers know some things going on in my life here and there it helps them to relate to me, as a person.
