This is a wordpres theme, the only thing what you do manualy is to set theme, rest is handled by wordpress.

well I tried adding this theme and there was nothing on the main page such as, Latest featured stories, Latest News

Did you read the installation guide bbrian?

You need to adjust some coding and all those things has been written on the isntallation guide that is in the theme folder.
