Yeah, there's a lot of those hacks that I refer to as kiddie hacks. No offense - oh what the hell, I don't much care for kids - there, I said it - but anyway, there's a lot of those kinds of things that actually take away from the real content of the site. They might even devalue the content you do have. It's good to have links to various information within your site, but to give it such prominence on a page could degrade your PR - not to mention the affect it will have on your content:code ratio, which you want to be as high as possible. Besides, it looks like you have a place for that on the home page of the site.
