I think that there is no right or wrong answer to this. Everyone earns different amounts. Depending on a number of factors example:

1. Where the ad is placed
2. How relvant the ad is to the post.
3. Is the blog about a product or service that someone might want to find more about and click the link.

So its not cut and dry in theory there is no cap on how much you could earn.

Just depends.

^ Adsense is google's advertising. They allow you place their ads on your website and you can be paid when people click on them. Check it out: google.com/adsense

Once I get a good amount of traffic to my site I will put this in. But I always her people say that adsense is not that great but affiliate programs are way better.

Adsense is a numbers game. The more sites your have, 40-50-60, etc that have traffic the more you make.

For example. One site gets .75 a day. .75 x 30 days = $22.5 x 60 sites = $1350 a month. That theory is splattered all over the net and to some degree it works.

These must be small "Niche" sites with the proper long tailed keywords for your domain name. ie: "computer battery problems" put a .com - .net or other dot something. That particular phrase has only 204,000 competitors so that might be a good place to start.
-NOTE- The .info etc is good for redirects but not much else.

Another thing to look for are keywords paying Google more that $1.00 to use; The nickel ones are a huge waste of your time.

There are a few other things to consider but Adsense can be a cash stream.

A MAJOR NO NO WITH ADSENSE! NEVER CLICK ON THE ADSENCE ADS ON YOUR SITE!

Google knows all the tricks tried so just don't do it. They accept no excuses and will close your account.

my acc isnt approved but well bad luck then guess ill try next time.

besides that, my bro has got a not-so-active blog, and he dont get paid much but one day google just send a mail and gave him 150bucks worth of advertising for free. i felt thats a pretty good deal

The $150 offer from Google is for their Adwords program. They run that promo every once in awhile. It's ok as far as it goes but they do have some funny rules. Also, if you're not careful you can run up a rather large ad bill before you know what hit you.

I'm not saying it's bad but I'd never use it.
