What's up with all the spam posts? They seem to be left on here forever. I've reported some, but it makes me feel as if I'm wasting my time. There are even threads that the mods have replied in that are full of spam. Sad that it's not being cleaned up as it should. Perhaps a few additional moderators would be a good idea? Right now, I think there are only two active ones. In one thread: http://www.bloggeries.com/forum/word...html#post52984 Wordpress WP Live Chat Plugin Wordpress WP Live Chat Plugin Wordpress WP Live Chat Plugin Wordpress WP Live Chat Plugin And another: Wordpress is better than blogger I'm not even going to get into the others, it's not my job. I like to come here and enjoy, not click on a thread and be greeted with spam posts. |

You're not wasting your time by reporting them. We clear them as we see them. I know I clear dozens of pieces of spam daily and there are other moderators doing the same. It's a huge forum in a highly trafficked niche. We can't see it all as soon as it hits and you'd be surprised how much is stopped before it ever makes it to be seen by public eyes like yours. As for old ones that "seem to be left forever"? If the moderators don't enter those threads again....and no one reports them....then how are they supposed to ever be removed? The moderators work hard to clear out as much as they see on our own and we rely on other members to point out what we miss. It's a community effort.

I'm glad you made this thread! I report spam now and then but I wasn't sure if anyone was really looking at the spam reports. Thanks QuirkyJessi for letting us know! I'll keep reporting spam, as I see it.

Yep. We get emailed every time someone reports spam. I don't know how others do their spam-moderating stuff, but I have Gmail set to sort out Bloggeries notifications and every time I'm in my email account, I see if there's anything new from here. If it's spam notifications, I immediately go and remove them, along with removing any I see while I'm on the boards. That being said, just so you guys know, if you see someone spamming, you don't have to report 'every' single post of theirs. With each piece of spam that's reported, we search for all posts made by that person and remove them. Along with that, we also see those "notes" you add in the "report spam" section, so if you say something like "several pieces of spam in this thread," then we can check and remove them all without you having to report each one. Mistakes happen....we miss some....or sometimes a mod comes along before another of us does and might not get all of it, but whatever. The reported spam feature is definitely used both from members and by the mods to successfully remove it, so it's not a waste.
