Cloudine mentioned the Intense Debate addon for comments in this thread: http://www.bloggeries.com/forum/blog...html#post24458 I was impressed by what it looked like and how simple it was, but then ran into one line in the tutorial that through me off. It said something about how the comments were mine and if I ever changed my mind, I could export them. So hold on....if I remove the addon later, none of my comments will be on my blog any more? I can have them in an exported file, but not actually on my blog as it stands? Has anyone else used it and had success or failure with it?

Hey QuirkyJessi, Isaac from Intense Debate here! Intense Debate integrates seamlessly with Blogger. When you install, you can chose to import all your existing comments into Intense Debate, and if you ever chose to leave you can just as easily export comments made in Intense Debate back into Bloggers commenting system! We're also working on a synchronization plugin for Blogger, that will automatically synchronize your hidden Blogger comments with comments made in Intense Debate. This means that if you ever want to uninstall, the comments will be right there already! No need to export. This is a feature that we're working on right now. We'd be thrilled to have you on board. If you have further questions, please contact support@intensedebate.com and Michael will answer asap. |

Thank you for the personal advice. ![]() I was trying it out last night and the first thing I noticed was that the required information seemed to register them. I allow anonymous comments....and personally, I don't like being forced to sign up for things in order to comment, so I'm a little confused as to why it's in place like that. Is there a setting that I'm missing somewhere, or does it really sign people up when they comment?

Intense Debate is made for anonymous commenting by default. We support Gravatar for anonymous comments. We only sign you up if you check the little checkbox that says "Claim my comments". So the system doesn't sign you up automatically, you have to opt-in ![]() Thanks for trying us out! |

No, that's fine...as long as the feature is coming. I'm more concerned about my readers unknowingly signing up for something by putting in information they've always included....but now it's going to someone else.
