If you can get traffic from nofollow links, why not? After all most of the major social sites are nofollow

Well traditionally dofollow are the only links that count. But considering all the major sites that people use to share content on facebook,twitter,linkedin,pinterest, etc are nofollow, I can see google rethinking their strategy here.

@shaunrosenberg - I like the way you think. This is an older thread that somehow got bumped, but it's still a good conversation. And I am of the belief that social media links are valuable, and that no follow links can be important too. They can get you traffic, and I still think they weigh into the equation somehow. I would NEVER choose NOT to comment on a blog because it is "no follow" - And in fact, I don't pay attention to whether a blog is do follow or no follow, when choosing to leave a comment.
