So I have just found out about Disqus comments. Any here use it on Blogger? I like the idea of adding threaded comments to my blog? Was adding Disqus a pain in the butt? Any comments would be helpful. Thanks!

I use Disqus on my Blogger blog, and it's a big improvement to the default comment system. Installing Disqus is really easy—it's been awhile since I did it, but I think what you do is upload your template to the Disqus website and they put in the necessary code. I've also tried IntenseDebate, but Disqus is a lot better, in my opinion. IntenseDebate looks sloppy. I definitely recommend installing Disqus!

So I made the switch. It was super easy and I was even able to import the old comments so I did not lose them. Hope this helps my blog a bit.

Interesting! Maybe I should change too? I'm still using the default blogger comment system. What your existing comment after you install the Disqus? Are they still there?

I'd love to know more about switching to Disqus comments. Has anyone had any bad experiences with it? I do not want to say this sounding boastful, but getting about 20 comments per blog article is normal for me, and I've been wondering if with discuss it would get too confusing with the threaded inline conversation replies that Disqus is known for. In other words, you could have long reply to reply to reply to reply before you are back on an original comment. I don't want to switch comment systems hastily, but I like the idea of being able to log in thru twitter using Disqus (I think you can), and I'm wondering if being able to reply directly to a comment is an improvement or creates confusion. I'm genuinely looking for thoughts on this (See my blog for comment activity)

@ChampDog - When I imported my comment they show in Disqus now but not as a Disqus user comment. So they are still there and can be seen but they almost look like an anonymous user posted the comment. Meaning no picture or Disqus profile is associated with the comment. @Melody - My person choice too switch was because I wanted threaded comments. I think it would be easy to keep a specific comment on track if it was threaded. I do not have nearly that comments per post so my experience is limited. For example my most recent blog post I had a conversions with a reader but had to make a new comment when I simply wanted to reply directly to him. Threaded comments seem easier to manage. Disqus does allow customization of the comments so there might be a way to limit the visible thread count. I also like the idea of users being able to login using multiple choices which I hope will encourage more comments on my blog.

I used disqus for a while back last year. While it is an improvement on the old blogger comment system, it apparently stops some valid commenters from commenting and increases loading time. And so I uninstalled it.

I've not used it, but Disqus seems to be a very good commenting system. I am always leery of using them. It seems easy to import your comments but the option of exporting always seems cumbersome. But that is just my two cents.

I don't mean to belabor this, but I want to think seriously about my options before switching. Once in a while I will get blog articles with 60+ comments, and it's just not easy to manage a heavy number of comments. The comment system I have no doesn't allow for a person to reply directly to a comment, which is one reason I'm considering a change. @The Envoy - If the load time is slowed down, that IS a consideration. It seems like the big competitor to Disqus would be the "Intense Debate" comment system, which allows for a comment to be tweeted even!

If I remember correctly Disqus also had the ability to allow users to tweet comments. As far as load times go I do not feel that is much of concern on today web sites. Most, not all, users have high speed internet so the load time is minimal. Also I would have to imagine that the Disqus have though about load times and tweaked the software for the fastest possible load times. Take a look at my blog and it loads plenty fast in my opinion.
