Blogging in areas with VERY slow internet

Hi there.

As i am going sailing for a few month around the south Chinese ocean, i would like to know which platform to use. We have discussed Typo3 and wordpress. We want to be able to upload photos and edit text. Sometimes this will be done through a satellite phone, therefore we need the amount of data to be the least possible.

Is there a certain platform as wordpress or typo3 in a "Light" version for slow internet?

We want to be able to plot in our data in google-maps, and we need to make a login, so the page will restricted to people who we want to enter.
We already have a host but just need to find the lightest "platform " (or whatever we would call it) to edit text, plot in positions and upload photos.

Blogger supports mobile blogging by email. You could experiment with that to see if it gives you what you want.
