Default Lining up columns and headers in Blogger template

I'm having trouble getting things to line up in my Blogger Minima template. The two main problems are:
  • The tops of my left and right hand columns are not level
  • The left hand side of my Header text does not line up with the edge of my left hand column

There are other similar problems around the foot of each post but if I could get the main ones sorted out I'd be happy!

The blog is at fairyhedgehog Thank you in advance for any help you can give.

Fairy!!

So for the first part, are you talking about how the post date line doesn't line up evenly with the "design by WooThemes"?

Hi Jessi!

Yes. It doesn't look too bad (to me anyway) with all that white space, but if I want to change the background colour of any of the elements it becomes terribly obvious.

It probably doesn't matter now that I've settled for a mostly white colour scheme!

I also stopped worrying about point 2 once I put a picture behind my header. I was going for minimalist with just a white background but it didn't look right.

Your blog is going great. I always check it out.

Hmm. Well I'm less on the coding side of things, so I was hoping one of the other guys would stop by and check this out before I got back to it, lol.

I know with my theme I had a similar problem, but it was just a matter of the item I had on the right hand side, didn't have a "title." Like where you have "Title," "Contact," "Wonderful People," etc down the side. And yes, mine was with the right hand sidebar being higher up than the left, so it didn't really make sense. Making sure my top item on the sidebar was under a "heading," though, corrected it completely, so you might want to try that out.

Thanks, Jessi. I may just give that a go!

It sounds like the sort of silly issues you get with Blogger. I'm grateful for the free blog, don't get me wrong, but I wish the code was a bit more transparent.

Yeah, it really just depends on the theme you get. It can be funky trying to customize one that someone else has created and not being able to get it exactly the way you want.
