I have a blogspot blog on which I make sporadic posts and I doubt it gets any visitors. However, lately I have been thinking about creating a few more blogs with specific themes--and get more serious about promoting them. For example, one blog might be a sort of documentation site for my web site, one blog would be for Internet issues, one blog would be for my philosophical rantings, one blog would be for commentary on political matters, etc. I am wondering, how many blogspot blogs can I create based on one gmail account? Are they totally independent? (Some of my political views aren't politically correct, so I would like to ensure that people don't see a connection to the other blogs.) I am also hoping to create yet another blog off my own site using WordPress (I will make a separate question about WordPress in the WordPress forum). |

As far as I know you can create as many blogs as you want on one email account. However, if your whole purpose is to prevent readers of one blog from knowing about the other blogs then that is not a good idea. They can look at your profile and see your whole list of all your blogs. I recommend that you set up one Gmail account for your professional blog, and another for your "politically incorrect" blog. The only other problem with having multiple blogs is that it takes a lot of time to keep them all updated and running. Good luck!

As noted by Nathan above it can be a task running multiple blogs; I run six blogger blogs, but only actively promote 3 of them, and depending how you promote them can be a real task. Also, I have made the mistake of editing (i.e. adding adsense/or widgets/custom changes, etc) the wrong blog from the dashboard - so it pays to back up your templates straight after you do major html changes.

| I've done that too. It is really irritating when you realize that you have messed up one of your blogs while trying to edit a completely different one. Now I've got into the habit of rigorously double-checking which blog I am on when I am in the dashboard.

Multiple blogs can be a pain to maintain but at the same time it will help you isolate and contain more specific topics and ultimately will be easier to get the right kinds of traffic.

| I've done that, too, but I'm in the habit of always saving my current templates before I start working, so I can always revert back. Then all I have to do is re-work the changes in the 'correct' template, which is also quite easy because of my habit of copy/pasting all my changes into an ongoing word document in case I forget exactly what I've done or I'm making tons of changes back-to-back.
