Is anyone using facebook groups as a traffic source for their blog? With ~30,000,000 members it's becoming a hard place to ignore. I made a few posts in some problogging related forums and I have seen some traffic. Definitely not alot though. I would guess that if you have a niche topic you could start a group on it with your blog / site in the contact info and that would have a better effect. If you have used facebook before as a means of advertising for your blog please let us know about your results and thoughts! Rob

I'm interested to see what results others have had. I have to admit I just don't have time for Facebook. Keeping up with the visitors I get from MyBlogLog.com takes enough time away from writing content and doing research! If it sounds like Facebook is a big hit, though, I may have to make time. Jay |

I just added a few fashion apps to my Facebook, but I am really not working this one hard. I will keep you posted. Thats an interesting comment, Jay, how is MyBlogLog working for you? I just signed up. Is it more advantageous to go with the Premium? |

I use Facebook, and I feel it's an excellent way for others to know you're a serious blogger. The more you get around the blogosphere the better I feel! |

I get some traffic directly from MyBlogLog, but it's not a huge percentage. The biggest advantage I've found is being able to know who has visited and find their blog to be able to comment on. That builds relationships, converting what might have been a casual visitor to a reader (and a friend, in many cases). Jay |

I use Facebook to promote my blogs as well. And by "promote", I mean keying in and making visible my blog URLs, and I set it to automatically pull my feeds from my blog each time I publish new content. But no, I think it is a very effective way of promoting one's blog. Perhaps it's because everybody in Facebook is busy promoting their own blogs? I think for a blog promotion to succeed, it is very important to WHOM you promote it, and WHEN. We can be promoting our own blogs till the cows come home, but if the target audience isn't interested, or if they're really busy at the moment, all our efforts would go down the drain.. Perhaps we should adopt a slow-and-steady approach (which is what I'm trying out). Promote whenever the chance arises |

I import my photoblog entries as notes so I get a few links from that but I don't actually want my friends to know about my blog! Its always felt weird talking about blogging offline!

Because chances are, I've already forgotten about them.. Plus, I don't like people to openly tell me, "You know what? I'm stalking you so be mindful of what you blog about!" LOL. |

I don't like the idea of being restricted on what I can blog about. Online I can just dissappear - offline its not so easy, I have a horrible feeling my flatmate saw my blog though, but I got his IP and blocked him - hehe! I'm paranoid - I used to blog about much personal things and my friend confronted me about it once - I havn't seen her in 2 years! :S |
