Hmm... definitely food for thought. I normally submit my own posts via reddit and digg but let others do the SU.

Just curious, is it still possible for a post to be visible if it's not digg/reddit by anyone due to the lack of traffic?

If you always submit your own stuff, then you're never going to stumble upon your own posts by accident.

His reasons are all up in the air and speculation! If you don't submit you new content as a noob blogger it will take longer to get noticed. rarely does anyone submit other content! Rarely!

I don't agree with the "people will ignore you" part if you submit every article to a social networking site. If your work is relatively good they will embrace your writing and your submissions. Trust me if they don't embrace your submitted work you should find a better community.

WEB 2.0 The ideal of Web 2.0 is to develop interaction between individuals on the web. In this case it’s being developed from blogging and blogs. Overall Web 2.0 is a read and write web and no longer consists of simply reading. Individuals have the opportunity to voice their opinion and not simply read the content.

Source... me

You should be using Social Networking websites to your advantage! Seriously this is a gold mine if you have the time!

Submit your content with unique content for the topic title and description and get cached like this, Google Search, increase organic traffic flow

I submitted my own article to a social networking website and now it's helped me build traffic. Joe blow clicks the first link it links to me, if he clicks the second link it also goes to me. This is simply and example you can use more targeted keywords or whatever!

I mean he's got good reasons but they are all social status reasons. Think I'm the first to disagree hmmm I like submitting my content I submit to everything else on the web.... blog directories, forums, etc.. why not submit to social networks!

If you submit ALL your stuff then you'll saturate your niche, and despite what you may think the rest of the world isn't going to think all of your work is gold. I've always had better results from other people deciding I was stumbleworthy.

I'm back at the same thing I asked in Rob's other post... What exactly is Social Media. I don't get it. Don't feel obligated to go into too much detail, but can anyone give me a short summary? Sorry for being slow... Keep in mind I've been in the blog world 2 months and I'm still learning.

It's like stumbleupon, digg etc. A system where articles are voted for and if popular get more visits.

Oh, okay - that makes more sense now. Does it make a difference to get friends on there? I mean, I guess it would help to spread word about your blog... I'm just having a hard time understanding those sites. I've tried really hard to get into Stumble, but I don't get it. I use it at work when I'm bored, but all I do is just hit the "Stumble" button. I don't really use the site itself because I don't understand it.

I'm not a big time blogger and other people will still submit my articles.

In anycase, if you submt too many urls from one site to stumbleupon you will be stopped from submitting that site for a time. It happened to me in the early days- I just got an error after writing my review. It's against the ethos of the thing.

Basically to use a social networking site, you just "bookmark on that site" any website you like. Like giving it a vote.

For Stumbleupon, you need to install a software that sits in your internet browser. Anytime you stumble onto a website you like, you give it a (click on the THUMBS UP icon), add a short site description (optional) and THAT particular website will be listed at StumbleUpon.com for others to discover/visit.

Perhaps this free PDF ebook will give you an idea - in fact a list of all the social networking sites. I downloaded this about 3 weeks ago.
