I've now completely stopped dropping cards (unless I just happen to be on a site with a widget) and have noticed no difference in my traffic at all. However, a lot of people are still dropping on my widget and purchasing advertising on it.

I've been using the credits earned from this in the Entreecard shop rather than using it to buy advertising on other blogs. I can spend 150 EC and get someone to stumble or digg a post - this brings in more traffic than Entrecard alone, and in general, the traffic is better than Entrecard traffic.

i stopped dropping and stopped advertising on expensive blog, i'm still there chatting on the forum. Their system is all screwed up, everyone on the forum knows it and the owner knows it too.

He put the site up for sale then took it down a few days later. Now we'll see where he takes the site. If nothing change, EC is going down forever.

I have not used EC for a while but in Feb when I did it was great for networking. Heck I still have a tone of credits; thanks for reminding me!

Doing traffic exchanges is not scalable. If you look at the most popular Entrecard site, it only gets about 600 visits per day from Entrecard. If you stopped dropping, that would all dry up. If you want to really bring in traffic, there is no way you could ever visit enough sites to become really big.

The big questions is if you had one hour to spend marketing, what will give you the biggest bang for your buck? It isn't dropping, that's for sure. Almost any social media network or even commenting on blogs will bring you more traffic for much less effort.

On the topic what's your thoughts on a GOOD way to spend 1 hour if it were all you had?

Here's a suggestion. Use Google Blog Search and find 5 blogs with topics related to yours. Leave a meaningful comment on each, then go to Twitter, follow an extra 30 people, reply to 2 twits, post 2 jokes and promote your latest blog entry in one twit.

As for Entrecard, this is junk traffic in my opinion. The bounce rate for me is around 93% and the average length of a visit is 6 seconds. By comparison, my all time average bounce rate is around 44% and the average length of a visit is around one and a half minute. I began using Entrecard recently and I'll probably drop it like a hot potato very soon.

Regards, George
