The early posts were from almost 3 years ago and are definitely inaccurate now. A lot has changed since then and StumbleUpon rules are no exception. People would greatly abuse it if they were allowed to stumble their own posts without penalty and that's how it is now. Stumble other people's posts, not your own, and you'll find success. Stumble just your own and your submissions will be given no weight.

I'm not a huge fan of StumbleUpon at all. The bounce rate on SU traffic is outrageously high. Sure, it gives you better numbers, but it's not really building you a legitimate, long-term following.

Can you do both. I noticed when I stumble that the posts are being counted by stumble. Is that an accurate statement that I just made?

Talking about "bounce rate" when I look at the numbers the bounce rate from the SEO is high it looks like people are clicking on the website by accident because they don't stay that long. When I look at my return rate it is over 50% which I think is high. Am I mistaken. I try very hard to answer any questions and to acknowledge all comments.

The same can be said for you stumbling a friend's site repeatedly or having the same friend submit your site for you over and over again. After the first few, they don't care to see the same site from you again and it's automatically ignored basically. Do some googling and you'll come up with lots of people who have hit that wall themeselves, and pretty much every "how to use StumbleUpon" or "how to get traffic from Stumble" guide will tell you not to submit your own sites.

Good. I didn't do it, but really wondered about it after reading that posting. Thank you SO much for the advice, Jessi. I appreciate that.

Personally, I think that SU is just a waste of time. Most people stay for like 1 minute or so if you're lucky. If you're doing photography or humor or something popular like that, maybe.... If not, why bother? Also, look at RSS, unless you blog about tech or blogging tips or social media where your average user is somewhat geekafied, no one will subscribe. I'm just going to throw it out there, I don't subscribe to any blogs and never use an RSS reader, if I like a blog, I go to the URL and read it.
