If you didn't have Entrecard, would your blog have ANY visitors?

I haven't really been using Entrecard too much but I went back recently and I seen a bunch of things that have changed. But not necessarily for the good.

I'm seeing so many people with better Alexa ratings BUT like 90% of their traffic are coming from Entrecard... if you ask me, I think it's BS because I feel a majority of Entrecarders are chain droppers.

If you're relying on Entrecard, or any other service too much for your traffic, you're setting yourself up for a fall.

Search engine is the best way to get traffic to your site without any doubt. That shows people are actually searching for something related to what your site is about, instead of just clicking on some fancy picture or "draw you in" title on a text link.

Things people in the know know is the 20% rule. That is that traffic or revenue from one source shouldn't make up more than 20% of your total traffic or revenue.

It takes time, but if you can, get it. I've hit it with a blog that gets 400-500 people a day. Now I need to increase the revenue to match that!

The University Kid is correct. You do not want to rely on one source for all of your traffic. If that source was to go away so would your traffic. You should spread it out over several different methods. SEO would be the best but there are other good methods also.

err well in digitalpoint forum, there was someone selling 5000 hits for $3 and 10,000 hits for $4.90, anyone tried that? pretty cheap I would say?

Entrecard- mostly garbage traffic but I found a few people actually return. If you site impresses lets say 5 people a week and they return to visit every day or so you have earned real visitors for a few minutes of your time. I really think they should make people view a site for a few seconds and ban click-n-runs.


Bobbytoat, if you want hits and not real traffic you can run software and save money. Traffic that is generated by a computer and not seen by humans serves no real purpose IMHO.

Yes, but they're largely not worth it. Somebody as a gift "sent" me 21 hits to my site, and not one of them stayed for more than 10 seconds.

Of course, I have heard stories of guys buying $10 packages of 100,000 hits and one bought a flight which earnt them $50-$60 commission, but those stories are rather rare.

There are better ways to monetize a website with hits than by aiming for a sale

Well to answer the post title question....I don't use entrecard and still have visitors, hehe. As Rob has said before....entrecard can bring in quality, staying visitors for some niches (like this forum), but for others, it's worthless in that department.
