I used to think buying expensive adverts was a bad thing, but that's because I used to measure success purely on the number of clicks they yield and the credits per click. Thinking about it though, if a site costs 400 ECs to advertise on, 200 people are dropping their card there every day. Sure, the majority of them are going through the motions, with no chance whatsoever of clicking on the link to you. Your ad is right next to where they are looking to click though, surely you can say that every single one of them has at least seen your ad. (Even more so now that dropping while disabling your browser's automatic loading of images no longer works) This must surely help with branding, and getting noticed. Perhaps while reciprocating drops I'll notice a card in my inbox that I've seen here and there and be more inclined to stick about after a drop to read their content. I have never clicked on a Hochstadt ad, but they're everywhere. I am now curious as to what that site is about and so will go to check it out. Do other people advertise on expensive sites despite recieving poor stats? What are your reasons for doing so?

I don't buy expensive ones because they always have such long waits and I don't like locking credits up that long. Another thing if they are at ~400; it could be from dropping like a mad man as well. That being said yes even if someone doesn't per say click on your ad they are still being exposed to your ad which is a positive thing in my opinion. As the owner of Entrecard said it's like "Commuter Traffic". Think of your place like a coffeeshop; you drive by it everyday eventually you're gonna try a cup

I am new at Entrecard and have been saving up some credits for awhile. What do you guys recommend buying wit hEntreCard credits? Should one focus on sites that cost 100-250 credits or go for more or less expensive advertising slots?

I spend my credits everywhere - I've found that buying ads with smaller, newer blogs can lead to some good relationships and buying ads on bigger blogs can help you 'get noticed' by the big guys/gals.

I don't even use my credits. I will be donating 3000 of them to Feed Flare's contest which leaves me with about a 1000 that I plan to giveaway with some other method. I'm really not a fan entrecard and plan to remove it (I've just been lazy). The bounce rate is too high and I think there are better ways to promote.

Mine are all over the board. I buy ads on all of them. The results vary as well so it's really hard to tell what's going on. I've had good traffic from high end ads and I've gotten NO traffic from some. |

I also bought some small priced ads and am trying to get some of the biggies too.. Cannot day which is better just yet, since I don't have enough experience. I've been there for few days only.

Since credits are going for such cheap prices now a days I believe it worth the time to buy 1-5000 credits for 5-~$10. With those bid on a tone of new blogs or ones that are just not very active. I've gotten great results from cheap ones and not so great ones from the more expensive for some odd yet arguably great reason.

You buy ads in the "Campaign" section of entrecard. Or if someone drops on you and you view their card their is an option there to advertise. I like going LOW to the cheap ones in totally unrelated niches to blogging resources. Most in my category (except Ben and a few others) just want visitors of their own. In the personal blogs / diaries etc I find people more apt to signup and join the conversation. Flip side is the make money blogging area --> If they can't see a way to make money from your site many won't signup. Obviously some do but just percentages are way in favor of the former.
