Just curious if anyone here uses social bookmarking tags in their blog posts? I see it everywhere but heard you have to register each post with each service which could be QUITE time consuming. I've also heard there is a script which does it automatically? Not sure what to believe; I know someone here has done it or one of you guests reading this .Looking forward to hearing your experiences and thoughts regarding social bookmarking tags in your bloggeries. Thanks, Rob

I tried it on my blog before. As far as I know there is not a plug-in that will you to submit the post to multiple sites at once. I wouldn't bookmark each post anyway, I would stick to the ones that you feel have the most to offer. submitting every last post you write can start to make you look like a spammer.

I have tried both Digg and StumbleUpon. From my experience, StumbleUpon does not convert well. Digg has the potential, but I have not had any successes to share. They tend to gravitate towards technology and the same "in" crowd.

I always add the 'Addthis' plugin on my Wordpress blogs as a standard plugin. It is unobtrusive so that it doesn't overwhelm the post with tons of chicklets but it still offers access to most of the popular social bookmarking sites in one go.

I use "addthis.com" plugin, and it works wonders (traffic wise!). It is a bit of hacking to put it automatically underneath each post on the blogger platform. I also have the "addtoany.com" plugin on the side bar. It is less flexible. Both are easy to use, and let the reader publish the post quasi easily (depending on the features and user interface of each social bookmarking site). I think its a wordpress plugin...at least thats what I heard. I'd like to have at least a few social bookmark places after each post just in case a reader wants to add it. I tried the addthis but never got it to work with every post. From what I can see, each little icon that links to the social bookmark place is just there for some one to click and add it. If you are already logged into the place it should work without too much work. Otherwise they aren't added to each social site unless a reader clicks and adds it. I might just grab a few posts and add them and then stick the reddit or digg icon on just those few posts instead of on the side bar or each post. |

I don't have the social bookmark plug in on my blogs (their blogger anyways), but I do socially bookmark my posts. Of course, I only do it on the ones that are DoFollow; I'm not really into it for traffic as most don't seem to convert that way very well.
