Small Social Bookmarking Sites

Fellow bloggers, I have a request.

So the social bookmarking sites that get thrown around so far are big ones like Digg, Delicious, StumbleUpon etc. However, to even get yourself noticed, you need to submit hundreds of articles first (I'm told). And such megaspamming is, to be honest, reserved for spammers.

I thus prefer smaller social bookmarking sites (albeit with a smaller, but sizable audience) where I can submit in only articles that I think are worthy, not just from my own blog, and not random article spam from the web either. I found 2 such sites in my own niche (Japan), but (and here's my request):

Are there any small-medium social bookmarking sites with a general focus or in niches NOT related to Japan?

The ones before these (Japansoc and Japundit) were more established, but unfortunately one decided to turn Facebook and the other turned into a private blog.
