Hi, everyone I recently joined this other site called BlogCatalog as well and I was wondering was it worth joining? and another question I had was when I was registering I stumbled upon a part of the registration called "sponsor a category" and it was asking for cash. I was wondering is it necessary for me to pay to join BlogCatalog or is this only optional? Right now I just submitted my application for registration so I need to wait a few days! And if anyone of you have also joined BlogCatalog I would love to hear how the site is! Thanks in advance! Last edited by Mac100x; March 6th, 2010 at 09:49 PM.. |

Oh sorry about that BlogCatalog is what I believe kind of like Bloggeries with a huge group of bloggers who discuss and share each other's blog. So I just joined it and I have seen some people from here who have joined it and just wanted to know how the site is like? Sorry for the confusion! I am not trying to spam. The BlogCatalog site is: BlogCatalog And also sorry for bumping the thread... |

I have been on BlogCatalog for a while. To put the site in perspective: From Feb 3, 2008 to Mar 5, 2010 I have received a grand total of 529 visits from their site. That's over two years and only 529 people have come to look at my site because of signing up with them. In short it is a pathetic waste of money and/or time. You won't get much traffic from them. Your time and money are better spent in other directions.

So, is it a low traffic forum or something? Or is it a traffic trading website?

I went and checked it out. Seems to me like it is more of a blog directory and social networking site than a forum. If anyone else has a stance on this please let me know.

I recently signed up at BlogCatalog because I wanted to be able to participate in the "personal blogging" forum, and I couldn't without signing up. But I ignored any options that involved me paying money. The forums are pretty heavy on "come follow my blog!" posts, but there are pockets of actual discussion - and somebody must be patrolling the forums, because there's very little flat-out spam. A number of people almost immediately "friended" me, most of them with marketing-heavy blogs that have nothing at all to do with my blog. And, oddly, I was friended by the owner of one "real" blog that is quite interesting, but again has nothing to do with my blog. Nice but puzzling, that one. I'm not friending anybody yet. I don't really expect it to produce any traffic to speak of, though I'll have a better idea over time. |

I have used BlogCatalog too. It's not really worth it. I think it's better than most blog directories since it also has a community around it. But really you don't get a lot of traffic through it. But in order to get traffic you would probably need to be active on it anyway.
