While there's no one tool or technique that can measure and track all data, Da Vanzo suggests considering analytics, behavior tracking, dedicated tracking codes for links, coupon codes on Facebook or Twitter, and customer surveys. A satirical video Da Vanzo lifts from YouTube explains why marketers should consider social media.

It's definitely a good idea to measure the effectiveness of a social media campaign; you'd be surprised how many big companies don't measure theirs.

There are several companies out there that have created comprehensive tracking tools, but these cost big $$$.

I love to check my traffic details. It motivates me and improve my weak points.

I think that the best way to measure social media is interaction. The more your fans/followers interact the more they will return.

I agree, but you must sort out the active ones and the quiet ones. You can measure the tweets, @tweets or maybe the comments.

I've been told that for every hour you spend blogging you should spend 3 on SMM. My concern is, I spend so much time doing this and learning how to work online, I have very little time to measure. I understand it is very important, but you need to work on content and traffic otherwise you'd have nothing to measure.
