what is the one thing you would change about Twitter?

t seems like Twitter is losing some steam. A lot of people have accounts but not a big percentage use it daily. I am doing some research for a blog post on my social media blog and wanted your input. What is the one thing you would change to make Twitter better?

Twitter has been overrun by software that creates multiple accounts and spams like crazy

I never even look at Twitter anymore - I have a wordpress plugin that echoes my posts to Twitter, Facebook, etc.

I do log into Facebook as they seem to do a lot better job of keeping automation at bay

Yeah, seems Twitter has just been overrun with spammers, automated posts, and well, crap, so I'm one of them that lost steam and interest in it as well.

^^ What Quirky Jessi and Stephen Todd said. I periodically have to set my updates to private for a few days to stop it for a while.

Plus the lack of bugfixes. Biggest pain right now is profiles that don't exist. I have clicked on profile of someone in my app (Twhirl), it says it doesn't exist. I go to the twitter website, click on the profile from there, it doesn't exist. Try a search on the name, it doesn't exist.

It's very frustrating for me, and I'm sure the ones who are trying to establish a presence on Twitter. You can't follow someone if they "don't exist." Twitter really needs to get their act together.

I think they should place a limit on the amount of people you can follow in 24 hours - I'm absolutely sick to death of getting followers who are just mass-following as many people as possible in order to build up numbers.

It's really starting to get to me! I have multiple accounts for different reasons, and on all of them at least 50% of the followers are just people promoting themselves through mass-following. It's getting ridiculous.

Well i have lost interest in twitter,due to its unreliability.

My last couple of followers have been about porn, teeth whitening and snuggies. Oh, and one or two 'make money' things which may or may not be real people.

There's not really any shield to protect you from rubbish if you want to use it for any kind of promotion. And if I restricted it to just people I know from real life then it's not going to be busy enough.

There's a radio station I listen to that reads of celebrity tweets early in the morning, if they find it suitable enough. Twitter is great if you're already famous, but if you're using it to discover interesting people then it swamps you.

I don't like seeing all the conversations my friends are having with other people I don't know. I think it should be an option to only show those conversations if the person the comment is aimed to is also in your friends list.
