A useful thing to have on your blog is links to these social bookmarking sites for individual blog posts. So readers can submit any posts of interests. I've recently found a way to do this foro the HTML Classic Template on Blogger. The code and some more detail are listed on my blog, you can also see the links on my blog posts as an example. 100 Dollars A Day |

Would this method work on a non Blogger Blog? It's definitely something of interest to me and I'm sure many members of this community.

I know of a couple of ways to do it: (1) The SHARE THIS plugin - similar to the "Bookmark Me" plugin but the social sites are not visible until a reader clicks on the "Share This" link (saves space and reduces clutter). (2) Use Feedburner's Feed Flare - if you have a Feedburner account, you may tick your preferred social bookmarking services, add the HTML code into your page and the links will appear. There is also an option to choose whether you want those links to appear on your post/feed or both. (3) Use the ADD THIS! button. This service is web-based, and does not require you to install anything on your blog. Just sign up for an account, and add some HTML codes and the ADD THIS! widget will appear. |

Personally, I used "AddThis." You can pick and choose what you want to show and the format of how it looks, so it's pretty customizable. It was easy to put in place, too.

NightFlite please post the link to the article next time, not the whole blog as I can't find it anywhere. Social bookmark plugins should have not javascript externals as this loads the bandwidth and increases the page loading time (very important if you hit big on social media sites). That is why I do not use share this any more but a simple php only plugin i like Bookmark me already mentioned. |
