I hear Twitter is a decent marketing tool for bloggers who want to share their bloggeries... I think I should probably join, but I'm not convinced it will be worth it yet. Can you guys convince me? Has anyone had a noticeable increase in traffic, etc. once promoting on Twitter?

it will only take a few minutes to set up your twitter account I'm sure there are blogger plugins to echo your posts to twitter any visitors you get from twitter to your blog will be a welcome bonus all my blogs echo to twitter (Stephen Todd (aceseo) on Twitter) - and its "work free" I only use wordpress - and my posts also get echoed to facebook, etc. but I don't know if you can do that through blogger |

Personally I don't use Twitter, because it is like promoting another blog. To get any value from Twitter you have to promote your Twitter just like you would promote your blog in the first place. You have to have regular readers of your Twitter if you plan to get any traffic from it.

I use it - reluctantly. It's useful if you can find people in the same network as you who would be interested in the things you blog about it, and its also useful for keeping up to date with things happening in your network. I just hate the fact people tweet/retweet your stuff instead of linking to it.

Twitter is a great way of reashing out to your readers and for them to follow you if you twitter your posts. Murray

I sure that's true for large scale traffic from twitter howerver, I just checked my stats and found a visitor to my site Make Money from twitter search for "cash per action" when I did a twitter search, sure enough there I was at #1 - as I'm not active on twitter anymore - just use a wordpress plugin to echo my posts, that was a work free hit from twitter |

It depends on your audience as to whether Twitter will effective. Any social traffic tends to convert at a lower rate but it still has value.

that's true - and given the amount of effort required to get free traffic nowadays, any visitors to their blog site will be welcome to most bloggers also, you could try and find out what people are searching for on twitter search - then deliberately target them there's "Trending topics" on the twitter search page - but that short term stuff - what you really need is to find out what twitter users are continually searching for - "increase twitter followers" is an obvious one |

1) It's free. 2) You don't really have to type out an essay to get someones attention as a comment. A few short and to the point posts every now and then can get a conversation going. 3) Get to know people by doing having meaningful conversations. When people trust you, that's better when it comes to competition. It's good to make friends. When you befriend people, they'll tell others about you when the topic of the conversation can related to your blog. |
