I don't know what Digg's Alexa rank was 2 years ago (who would?), but as of today it's in the 140s. Getting a link on its index page is bound to drive lots of surfers to your site...

You should really be careful about submitting some articles in just a short span of time. As what I have learned there are some people getting banned from dig because they were submitting per day an average of 20 articles. As for me, I just submit a few.

In my experience, Digg is very cliquish. There is a small percentage of users called power diggers who get their items to the top. I have submitted hundreds of articles to Digg over the course of about three years and the most amount of diggs I have received has been three, and I'm not talking about my personal blogs, though I have submitted those. I'm talking about typical Digg/Reddit fodder (rage comics, autocorrects, etc).

It all depends on how you promote/market it and how much traffic you're pushing. I've made thousands per month through them so it does work well.

I really have never found digg to be that helpful - seems like it really comes down to luck with it.
