Is Stumbleupon Effective for bloggers?

Is stumbleupon effective for bloggers? I just got it and am stumbling anything I post.... Is this an effective way to promote traffic or is it a waste of time?

It's crazy right? Some people could really make it happen with Stumbleupon.

I believe it has its power. Since it also serves as a type of social media, I guess besides stumbling, some point of communications among the users might help to. What to do? We're not super famous people, sometimes to reach out seems to be a good way to start. Just my 2 cents.

I am not sure but I *think* your power has to do with if you discover something and then many other give it a . So when problogger or someone makes a post if you stumble it first and then others do it would increase the "power of your stumble?"

Not sure. I know many get lots from it. I get none even though we have a stumble upon icon here. If you ever really like a thread please bookmark it so others can find it

The other day I was curious to see what would happen if I stumbled my own blog. Since I had just started my blog a few weeks ago, I've only been getting about 20-40 hits per day...

Suddenly I had 150+ hits that were from stumble upon, from my ONE stumble!

I'll be curious to see if it does that again when I make my next post and stumble it.

Just a warning, though - if you Stumble your own posts and don't Stumble others enough, your account will get banned with them.

I added the Sociable plugin for my blog and one of the sites you can submit things to is Stumble Upon. I had posted an article that someone had retweeted on Twitter and then when I checked my stats at the end of the night, I had like 30 or so hits from Stumble Upon.

No idea what happened but I liked it.

It's a good idea to add friends and then send them messages to Stumble your stuff for you. If you have Firefox I recommend adding the toolbar. I bet more of us on on there than we know. Maybe we should find out... Hmm, I'll start a "who's on" thread like we have for Twitter so we can all friends up.

Be careful about stumbling your own posts. One of the drawbacks of stumbleupon is that once the same user has submitted links to the same site too many times (I believe it's 15, but I could be wrong), it will ban that site for awhile. So, no matter how many people stumble it, the link won't be sent out. Just FYI -- a lot of people have learned that the hard way.

I really like stumbleupon... I've gotten my account to the point where it is quite strong.

Most things up discover get at least 1000 visitors. You have to be careful and make sure you discover other things aside from yoru site or like blendetta said, it will make you stumble a handful of other peoples sites before you can stumble your own again.

Another thing, don't solicit stumbles through their sharing system or you can get banned.
