Is Stumbleupon Effective for bloggers?

Su works for me better than any other social bookmarking website. It gives me around 3l hits per month. Not a lot, however its still much more than what I get from Digg or Mixx.
These days its impossible for new blogs to break into digg.
I would reccomend focussing on SU to get some traffic. Also try and use su.pr. It does help in getting more hits from StumbleUpon.

I added the stumble upon bar and stumbled my site, but no hits yet. maybe something i'm doing wrong?

Basic things while using SU :
i) Select your category very wisely.
ii) It must be a genuinely good post
iii) You gotta be active in SU. Having subscribers and a high rated profile helps.

I get lot of traffic from Stumble Upon. But in my opinion, it does not fit all the topics.

First, if your blog has lot of visual elements, then you can have success with SU. Second, even if you get success, the visitors have high bounce rate and do not convert well.
Stumble Upon traffic is meant only for numbers, there are no significant changes in earnings etc.

If you have been stumbling your own articles, you should stop it as SU algorithm reduces the effect of your Stumbles each time to repeatedly stumble a same domain. It can even lead to closing of account!
