Default Twitter for dummies?

Is there a post around here for Twitter newbies? I signed up with Twitter before the holidays and I just do not get it.
Thanks

There are lots of threads in this category about Twitter.

What don't you get about it? Maybe I, or other people who come along, can help.

I've been browsing through the threads

I don't get the concept? Just keep answering the question...."what are you doing right now?"

I found a good explanation here. I don't know if someone has already posted it in another thread or not so I am sorry if I am reposting old information.

You can write about what you're doing, or link to a blog post you just wrote, or an article you've just read - whatever! You can also use the RT @username to retweet something one of your friends said to share with other friends, or to respond to a friend publicly, @username, or privately D username. To flag something as searchable, put a # sign in front of it. For instance, if you're posting about a new blog post, follow the tweet with #bloggeries so that we can find it by searching for #bloggeries.

The site is much easier to use and keep up with if you download TweetDeck. It automatically updates and you can create new columns and groups.

If you have any other questions, or if I've confused you more, let me know.

That you so much! I'm still a little confused but I'm taking notes and will just keep working with it until I understand it.

Sure! Also, following a lot of people helped me learn because I had the chance to see what they were tweeting about, plus, you learn a lot in general because they link to articles around the web. That's another good reason to have the Tweet Deck - it automatically updates, so when you follow a lot of people you don't miss anything. I get a lot of my news from Twitter, actually... lol

Basically just follow people you think are interesting or that you could learn something from. Reply to people when you can and then you're in the cycle of people replying to you, following you etc etc... Just be yourself and tweet as much or as little as you wish.

Another good site is Twitter Tips - TwiTip
