Default Unwritten Rules of the Internet

UnWrules - Unwritten Rules of the Internet
There are certain unwritten rules of the Internet that may be useful to know. Or maybe they’ll just give you a good laugh. Unwrules will bring you at least one of these each day.

I think it's a neat little idea. But more importantly, what do you guys think?

Hi Alex. Just spent some time on your site .. eye-catching banner, clean lines and nice look. Neat idea too ... short, witty snippets.

You might want to make the 'Previous rules' stand out more (colour? shift to the left?). I missed it at first and was wondering where the rest of the content was! Also it's a little unbalanced in feel. Personally I'd prefer more rules on each page and smaller font size on the headings.

As for content, when I read it the front page was 9,10,11 Nov. I read each rule three times and, sorry to say this, but I don't understand any of them. I can't quite put my finger on what I was having a problem with. I didn't have the same problem with the entries written by Gareth ... but as I say, I can't quite put my finger on it. I'm ok to go into an exchange of messages off-thread if you'd prefer and would be helpful. Cheers, Ian

At first I didn't get the idea it was just short tips. I also thought there should be more activity on the sides where the viewer will spend most of their time on your blog.

If it is only going to be really short bloggeries as such maybe try putting a sticky at the top which is equally as short telling us what it's bout or including it a description in header? Header looks nice and custom so assuming you could add it in there?

Cool idea couldn't help but comment on DP marketplace that place is BLOATED!

Thanks for the review, I appreciate it.

I kind of agree about going to different pages, the links don't stand out much. I may have an idea to make them stand out more, thanks for pointing it out.

I have an idea as to why you may be confused. Like for example, the post on Nov. 10th about the Mac I was talking about bloggers who use pictures of only Macs in their posts. Like, you won't find them posting images of Windows computers or any others, it's just all Macs. Of course I don't mean all blogs do use them, but the majority do. For instance at ProBlogger (scroll down a little) you can see a picture of a Mac in the posts. It happens in a lot of blogs I see.

So basically what I'm saying, is maybe you haven't really seen examples of those posts on websites. But I also see it's a problem with my writing style as I may be too specific, when the posts by Gareth were something more understandable and more obvious.

Thanks for that review though, I see my writing style could be a little off and I will definitely change it up.

The idea that people weren't understanding the point of the blog passed through my mind too, but I haven't really heard anything about it yet. I think an About page or something among those lines would suffice. And what did you mean by the sides? Like, a sidebar?

I read your comment, I appreciate it. Yeah that place is crazy. I'm getting closer and closer to making a good sale there though.

The only thing I'm going to add is maybe adding a side bar on the left?

I love it. It is funny, simple and easy read. I believe your description couldn't be better; neat little idea.

However, I agree with the "Previous rules" link... I actually didn't see it before I went back looking for it after seeing the comment above! It is kind of "hidden", and the first thought I had when I scrolled to the bottom was "is that it? I want more!".

Very clean, open theme but I think the post titles need to be reduced in size. They are just to large in comparison with the short posts.

Hi Alex. Yes you're probably right about why I didn't understand the posts ... I'm still finding my way around this blogging world and just not familiar with the type of things your blog talks about. I'm relieved that you took my comments so well though .. I was a bit concerned I might have come over a bit hard. I'll be posting my own blog for review and comments soon .. so you'll have a chance to get back at me ;-). Ian

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I have made it a little more obvious I think, it has a border and a little gradient around it. Hopefully that helps a little.

They are really big, I may cut it down a few pixels so hopefully I could add more rules to one page.

You didn't come by as hard, I think it was good because it shows me I have readers who may not understand the posts because they haven't seen it in action. No worries.
