Smile Honey Bees & Beekeeping - Central Beekeepers Alliance

I don't know how many of you will be interested in a beekeepers association in Canada...

Curious about how to get started in beekeeping?
Just want to find out what's been happening with the bees?
Honey Bees & Beekeeping in New Brunswick, Canada - Central Beekeepers Alliance
Okay, maybe not...

But do check out its lovely Content Cream WP theme by Mohsin (BloggingBits.com), if you have a minute. Not only attractive and easy to use (or modify, as it has been a bit here), but also it's been rock-solid through several Wordpress upgrades. And that's pretty sweet!

Thanks for offering the theme I love it, having all of the important things right there on top is wonderful.

Not a bee person... well I do seem to end up in a crazy person dance almost daily, because they seem to love me.

Funny, while you were posting your reply (thanks!! ) I was off at one of the articles sites, reading a piece you wrote about hummingbirds and 'aggressive bees' It sounds like a whole different insect from the wild bees and the honey bees that we have up north here, where the gentle bees run away from the birds who want to eat them! Yellow jackets and wasps and hornets, on the other hand... ouch!

That's a beautiful theme, and definitely a niche topic if ever I saw one. Any news on colony collapse disorder?

CCD is the subject of serious research - smart money right now is on a 'perfect storm' of factors including viral ailments carried by or aggravated by Varroa mites, undiagnosed Nosema ceranae, pesticide contact, general stress on colonies (notably through the demands of commercial pollination/long-distance hauling), etc., etc.... it's a challenging time for beekeepers (and the food supply) worldwide. Thanks for asking!

The theme is worth sharing, yes? Mohsin made it for his personal use, then changed his mind, changed his theme, and made this one available for free. He didn't bother promoting it much - just put it out there - so you don't see it all over the place... it looks quite fresh, I think.

Hey 'RJ'

There was an article in the Toronto Star earlier this week about the dramatic reduction in bee population. I meant to search the Toronto Star web site and send it to my friend who is interested in bee's like you but for got as I was trying out my solar charged lawn mower and solar charged pest repellent and got distracted.

I hope that helps.

Dan

Now I'm all distracted by your solar-charged gadgets, Dan!
We must talk more about those, off forum.

p.s. I'm not trying to be incognito, by the way - the forum just won't let me have a 3-letter username.
