Default Oppinions Wanted: Veterinary Student Blog

I'm just starting out in the blogging world, and would appreciare some feedback and advice from more experienced bloggers into how I'm going.
My blog is here: Nearly-Dr Ferox
I started writing it partly to be a record of my student life and partly to be able to apply the knowledge I'm gaining to something, even if it's just explaining things in a different way.

- Is my layout clear and easy to read? Does the changing header widget cause anyone to crash?

- My first articles were rather poorly formated (Household Deathtraps for pets), but Ithink I've fixed this and am getting better. Should I be going into more detail and making posts longer, or less detail and being more general?

- How can I encourage more people to leave comments?

Much appreciated.

Is it so hard to read that nobody can comment?

That made me laugh as I have an ongoing battle with mice sometimes in my basement. They are resilient!

Your site looks great and I can see you're getting comments which is a good sign. Easy to navigate; if it's new and you're serious which you seem maybe do your own domain. Who knows this could become a staple for students in your position if you continue to quality articles on the subject...

The blog has progressed over the last few weeks. I'm down to posting only about 3 a week, but I think that's still a decent number.

I have changed the layout a little and added Adsense to try to start earning off the blog, and hopefully get some adds that are actually relevant to what I'm talking about.

I have less blog posts displayed on the home page at any point in time. What would be a good number without making the page too long?

I've also started using more pictures at the start of posts. Is this a good idea?

I'm intending to use some case studies in with the articles as I experience them too, eg the Mystery of the Screaming Pooper.

Anybody want to have a go at reading X-rays? I thought I'd try a series of 'X-Ray Challenges' for people to test their observational skills and have a bit of fun. They're not too hard, so anybody should be able to notice something unusual about each Xray. The first one is here:

I love the x-ray challenge idea, and I have to say that it's the best use I've seen of the "click to read more" feature that most blogging platforms provide. I've always hated seeing that on blogs (why should I click, just give me the post!), but it works very well in a quiz/challenge post.

Your blog itself is great. I'd second the idea of getting a domain name of your own instead of using the blogging4life name. That will help brand it, and make it easier to switch platforms later if you decide to.
