Default Shaka Apparel - Shakaaaaa - Rambles of a CEO - Entrepreneur

So I have started a blog after reading the New Rules of Marketing & PR as a way to communicate with the world on my journey to establish Shaka Apparel and the process I am going through.

My plan isn't to be a thought leader, but rather provide a real recollection of efforts and resources that others could use, whilst also providing my opinion on topics at hand. The plan is to develop a down to earth blog that can also be used to let people know where the company is going and what it is doing.

So who's gonna have the first crack at having a dig?

Great looking blog. I'd try and figure out how to use more space besides just across the header though.

You are on the right track regarding "resource" search engines love legitimate resources. As long as the content is original and fresh it should be ok. I'd also find some key terms you like that aren't too competitive and begin optimizing posts for them as you go.

How long have you been worknig on this blog and how is Shaka Apparell doing?

Thanks for the comments. With the theme, it was one I came across online and am a fan. I too think that the post width isn't wide enough but I have no idea how to tweak the blog appart from adding links in my blog roll... posting blogs with trackbacks... and replying to comments... og and ofcourse checking stats.

I started blogging on the 25th of september 2007 and have been adding atleast one post a day with whatever eclectic thought I have playing havoc in my brain... so I write about it and see if there are any blogs I can link to or comment on that are similar in nature and hopefully get some interest from others.

Shaka Apparel is coming along just fine... I head to LA next week and should have the website ready by mid November so I can start adding content... I plan to launch January or February 2008... not sure yet due to Christmas and the Holiday season... I will keep blogging in the meantime.

Sounds like you have a good plan. I mentioned this elsewhere I've been pondering the idea of a personal blog that I talk about whatever I feel like talking about, with some SEO in there of course.

I'd keep doing what you are doing but seriously the theme may hinder readers to read it all it's very condensed on that one side and the moment you scroll down there is no more beautiful header it's jut plain. Maybe put less posts on front page so they always see the header? Just a thought of course but you may want to look into that as I'm sure there are thousands of themes available. Definitely on the right track for someone who started ~1 week ago. Read up in the Blogging Basics, Marketing sections and ask whatever questions you may have. Forums are one of the best places to get information and of course answers!

The content on your blog is really interesting, but I have to agree with Rob, the theme is killing it. Actually, it's a really NEAT theme, if only the sidebars were thin like that and the middle wide, and the picture spread out over the top. I can see the vision, it just isn't there quite yet!

But, keep up the good work...looks like you have a great concept of a place to let your thoughts out and help others along the way, too.

Thanks for the input. I'd say my next task is to find a better theme that is more user friendly and I will write a post about that once I find one to use myself... It's been on my mind and this has confirmed it for me... and the search begins lol

Glad that is done as I myself am actually impressed with my new layout... with it's simplicity... and I'd like to think it's a lot easier to navigate than the old one... with better colour usage and a lot more room to move so I can later add proper pictures and videos that people can actually see... one last thing I'll need to do is add my logo in the header and we are laughing!
