Hey, I've been reading a couple of SEO tips and just wondering if font types can affect your SEO What I mean is if you have something in Bold, Italic or underlined, does it carrier greater weight in googles search?

Interesting topic. I've never heard of your font affecting SEO, but when my blog was brand-spanking new, it was in Comic Sans font. I got feedback from my twitter followers (several people in fact!) that that font didn't look professional and should be changed. Got rid of Comic Sans right after that. I think people really do look at what font you have, and whether it's easy to read on the human eye. And when all is said and done, your blog should be written for humans, not bots.

They won't cause a big change in SEO, but good typography can do wonders to make your blog more readable and attractive to real people. Whenever possible I say forget the search engines and focus on the real people that you want reading your blog. There are free online services such as Typekit which make it possible to have beautiful typographic fonts that will make your blog stand out from the rest.

| I just love posters (sarcasm) who drop a blanket statement on a posters question and then don't support that answer. How about giving the OP something on why 'they don't produce measurable results'.

| +1 and I couldn't agree more! I am on the side of - Content Is King - I hold the personal opinion that if you are resorting to gaming the search engines to attract an audience, and that's exactly what SEO comes down to IMHO, then there is something deficient in your content.

"They don't produce measurable results" means we tested it and didn't see any improvement in the SERPs. I don't know how much more to say about that. |

I do happen to disagree with you, and this article might as well. At the end of the day, IMHO, SEO still remains gaming of the search engine to make up for the lack of strong content in whatever crowded genre or niche market one is operating in. Now I apologize to you for perhaps being a bit overly harsh on my initial response. I am new to Bloggeries, but absolutely not new to blogging/forums. What is obvious here on Bloggeries though, is that a majority of folks are new to blogging, and their questions and posts reflect that. If we can give them some substance in our responses, then we help them improve. Just my opinion. Thanks for your response, enjoy it. |

On a theoretical level, emphasizing words might be an SEO factor. On a practical level, however, we haven't seen any effect that would be worth more than a fart in the wind. |
