I used to be a SEO and I used every trick in the book

Those days are long gone - there are no google tricks now, and anybody trying to trick google will have their site blocked by google pretty quick

You have to use solid keyword research, build a search engine friendly site, churn out tightly focussed, keyword rich content

Get backlinks to both your home page, and the individual pages of your site

So, no tricks - just lots of work

After just over a week we're the 13th link down after searching "Special Needs and Parenting" on Google. Though we didn't "trick" Google, our content is very much related to our site's name, and as stated above, we have very rich key word content.

I was very surprised to see our site rank so high so quickly (for that particular search), and hopefully with some more work it will reach even higher status. I've read a lot of ways to "trick" Google and other search engines, and it just seems shady, I would choose hard work over tricks. You'll get better returning traffic results with better content and not just tricks.

I hope your ranking sticks - but you should be aware that it's often the case that rankings slip after 3 weeks - when google sees other sites have more backlinks, etc.

If your rankings do slip - it just means that you have more work to do - getting the ranking in the first place means your content is good
