... any secrets on making a sitemap? I am just now getting around to it and before I formally submit it, is there anything special I need to make sure to have or do with it? Anything important to include? Are those automatic generators "good enough"?

I never manually submit my sitemap - and I get thousands of pages indexed for each of blog sites

I do however use a sitemap plugin that builds my sitemap, updates my sitemap with new posts, adds the sitemap url to my robots text file, and notifies google and the other search engines that my site has new pages added

I use XML Sitemap Generator for WordPress 3.1.9 - but I no longer leave the plugin set to auto-update - I got constant errors and it overloaded my cheapo hosting accounts

you can submit your feed as a sitemap, no need to put together all those links
